Congrats Billy, Its nice to see you enjoying the progress. Your build gives me the inspiration that not cutting corners does pay off in the long run. I know the title of the thread is Going for 800 but since the thread started, has the number changed ?

We will know in about 30 days my friend! With the non lock up converter and the 4r70w, If it hit 800 rwhp on a loaded dyno I would be more then impressed with the current setup. Go back to the inertia dyno days with this setup on full kill and a lock up and the 50 shot on 27 psi, I would re tittle this thread "Going for 950 rwhp". The way the car is setup now I will probably be more impressed with track times then the dyno at this point though.

I started out wanting a number at the wheels and ended up with one sick ass piece of machinery. At this point it will make what it makes and be fast enough to keep my hands shaking after every pass.:thumb:

And when they dont shake no more..... there is always more boost or more N2O!

Good luck,

Thank you.

Im stuck on 2 numbers, 1000 & 200. Oct is showtime for me

I am aware of what you are trying to accomplish and hope to have the time to be there for it.

Good luck to you,,,,there is always something extra to do:thumb:

That is true! The motor should be able to take what I am going to through at it though. I was very careful to make sure every spec was where I wanted it. I have made sure I gave everything a second look at what it would hold. I have all the right parts and a tuner that I am willing to let it all hang out with. I think that may be the real key. "Its all in the tune" right? At this point the 8.8 rear may be the weakest link in the combo. If that is where I am at though, I will take it!

That is awesome!

YES! For the last time, "Yes it is done".....Oh wait, I mean thanks!!! LOL

very sweet, congrats on the beast.

Yes it is! Even a small trip to the store, like tonight, in my little grocery getter is a blast.

Man, I thought i'd never see the day your car came together. Congrats man, I hope you enjoy it. Hopefully when I get some time I can finish mine and maybe we could race together since I'm not too far away.

This is what i always do, check and double check everything, and yes you are right tunning the car is the key to this whole thing.

that 8.8 can take a beating , but it will give up one day

i know how it feels to drive the car,,,,when my kids want to go the gas station or grocery shop i am all over the stang

You and me both, along with many others here. Dallas Raceway is a very nice track. I work in DFW weekdays so I am always around.

Never can be to careful. I still have so many doubts but, they get less and less with every drive.

So, I went to the track today to try to teach myself to drive again. After three passes I had the burnout down and figured out how to keep from blowing the tires of at the line and the through first and second gear also. I still am getting some tire spin on the second gear shift but figured out how to ride it out with a couple of passes. I got to thinking today, the last time I was at the track was FFW in Oct. 08'!

Now keep in mind this is on an unfinished pump tune with a fat a/f and safe.

My best time of the day was a 1.68 60 with a 7.00 1/8 at 102 mph on an 1/8 mile Pro tree.. The 1/4 was shut down the run before this pass as there was an 1/8 mile event starting. I spent the 1/4 mile passes trying to keep from spinning and driving with the ass of the car dancing around. I went back to the pits and was thinking about loading the car and decided to go grab a race. It was a young guy in a notch with slicks. And my first race back I won. Felt good ! My times was similar though at 1.69 and 7.02 at 101.94 mph. Like I said though I am seeing tire spin at the top of first and especially into second.

Not the fastest times yet but its a baseline start. I forgot how it feels to be spinning the tires ever so slightly as the car still moves forward down the track. AWSOME!!!

I had the Go Pro on and will try to post a vid tomorrow.

More to come in the following month. :highfive:

Sounds like you had a blast!

I did! It was a little slower then the last time at the track, about 1/10s on the 60 and 2/10s on the 1/8 but, two MPH faster in the 1/8! I just need to stop that spin I am getting at the 1-2 shift. Last time I ran 100 at the 1/8 and 124 in the 1/4 at 10.63 with issues on the top end.

The car is fast for my street tune, just needs some finishing and some seat time.

All I want for the street tune is a 10.01 at 136! LOL

Then there is race gas .

Fact is the street tune on pump will make what it makes and be more then enough to play with on the street.

We are going to get serious with the race fuel and some serious boost though in about a week and a half.

Looking at the ET ranking list on this site the 102mph in the 1/8 should be in the 10.50 neighborhood in the 1/4. I will take that for a street tune!

That's about right, mine ran 6.7's @102 and 10.5's at nearly 130 on 93 octane. Actually I've never run anything but pump gas and don't even have a tune for race fuel.
