Wonder if the $1200 for the main harness is just for the harness or harness plus labor as that harness is no joke and would take a while to install.

The carpet must be on the list as well, anything vinyl or plastic will be etched with smoke as well and since it burned through the foam, I'd imagine that the residual fumes would be pretty toxic as well. Do not let them tell you that anything made of plastic, foam, or vinyl doesn't have to be replaced. And as mentioned, there is no way to tell if the glass is compromised so the safety factor also comes into play.
My dad was an insurance adjuster and up here in BC at the time, the formula was if repair cost + salvage value exceeded the replacement cost, it was a write-off.

Get that rental, the cost of the renting a car for however it would take to fix the car should be included in what they value your car at. What ive been told anyways

If your insurance has "loss of use" definitely get the rental asap as that will put pressure on the insurance company to get moving as their cost goes up.

Typically an insurance company will deem a car a total loss when repair cost meets or exceeds 75% of its value. This may vary state to state. I work in the insurance industry.

Might be a good time to consider a 2013. Plus, with used car prices what they are right now I'd suggest calling dealerships, seeing if they have cars similar to yours in year/mileage and then presenting those numbers to the insurance company as well. Might get you a little more cash.

That was just the part price. Theres a section toward the bottom that list the total labor of everything listed as 80 something hours.

i didn't know this either. They had told me I could rent a car since its in the policy but only for 15 days which I thought was some bs

I actually have been considering it. If they total it out there will be a nice part out including the 5.4 Im building

And to top off my awesome week, I replaced the battery in my r6 because it wouldn't hold a charge any longer, new battery wont either which means the stator is done. Then my 94 mustang which is my dd, 2 days after the fire started leaking coolant inside the car which means my heater core is toasted. Fml

I haven't spent much time under the hood of an SN95 but with the foxes you could just bypass the heater core and wait until you have some spare time seeing as it is summer right now. Just trying to help you out.

1 other thing to check into is that your Ins co specifies using only OEM parts and not aftermarket, because that could be an issue. Also check out the hourly labor rate at a local body shop to see what 80 hrs worth of labor would cost. These 2 items will increase the estimate.

Usually they ballpark the average $ figure per hour of labor on the estimate. So that is probably factored in already. One thing to think about too is how much of that stuff has settled into your hvac system, its all plastic, so I would say all hvac ducting would need to be replaced, carpets, seats (including cushions), rear deck(carpet below the rear window) Probably some smelly shit in the trunk as well.
Like stated by someone before (cant remember who, sorry) once they hit them with the supplemental repairs(additional repairs found once torn down) it will be a total loss.

Wow I didn't even think about the air condition or the carpet under the rear window. I did tell my wife to mention the trunk too. I took some sodas out the day after it happened and saw the outline of where the cases were.

No updates yet. My wife has been trying to get a hold of the agent all day yesterday and nothing. We can't even get a rental car until then. If we can't get them on the phone today, im going to ask for a different agent to handle the case. I went thru and was checking the cost the things I want replaced and so far not including everything we're looking at $7300 for a total of 14900 including what they already have down so if I get my way on getting everything replaced, looks like it would be totaled.

I did some research on values. Nada is 17450, kbb retail 19280, kbb private is 17184, and I took the average of 3 cars with in a 75 mile radius that have the closest mileage to mine and that's 17678. So looks like 17000ish is the price ill fight for if its totaled.

Additionally, I've had a couple people inquire on the 5.4 and on the chassis. What would be a fair price for the chassis minus the motor and trans. Everything else would be included in stock form except the bullitt wheels may stay with it. I have no idea what to price it as if the car goes that route. Any suggestions? And is there a certain way to determine buy back amount or does the insurance company just pick a magic number? Thanks guys

fires are a pain man, I just had a garage fire and the soot (sp?) apparently is acidic to all metal, so if smoke and junk got anywhere else make sure to bring that up.

State Farm took a good 3 months with my fire, but in the end things worked out, except my brand new bike (>100 miles on it) smells like chemical fire tho.

Now im starting to get a little irritated. My wife finally got a hold of the agent. They haven't even sent the claim up yet because they didn't have the mileage on the car because the guy who came and looked didn't write it down. Awesome that no one even called for that. But she did say she thinks its a total loss and we will know by friday.

2nd thing. I have rental coverage on the car. State farm has 3 different available options for costs. Im in the middle one which is $30/day max amount of $900. Cool. Well obviously I haven't even been able to get a hold of the insurance to start that process until today. Fire happened on the 2nd. Now the agent tells my wife we need to pick enterprise or hertz and the prices online aren't the same because state farm gets a discounted rate. So I have my wife call both. Both companies state that state farm only allows the rental of only one specific class of cars. The cost of that specific class thru enterprise is 30.85/day. That means I would need to put out $.85/day for it which is BS. Hertz is $29.60 so that's obviously what im going with.

3rd thing. Even though I have a max of $900, the agent said that once state farm comes down with a decision we are only allotted 5 days more of use of the rental after that. Wtf?! I can't get the car repaired in 5 days or find a new one in that time frame especially when 2 of those days are on the weekend. Hell I wont even have the check by then. Complete garbage.

Insurance is a scam, you didn't know that? They take your money and put it in their pockets. Then when you file a claim they have to find the money to pay it. Therefore they do everything they can to minimize your claim. They talk you into paying extra for 'extra' coverages but in reality those only exist in your mind. They have already figured out how to keep you from coming out ahead.
