Have you seen the Tiger Racing Super Louver hood? There's a thread about it with work on a group buy in progress. That's the hood I'm going to be getting.. definitely a sick piece.

That’s what I’m hoping to run on my 2007. I have a 2010+ style carbon one to test fit and see how it works with my GT500 front end. I hope it fits-ish-es. The 2007 is a “race car” though, I would go with a different hood if it was a DD.

I've been looking at that hood because mine is damaged and I really like the lines of the stock hood. I may be mistaken but I believe the stock part is over a grand compared to $650ish for the Steeda. Couple the vent with an opened-up stock grille with no fogs, might work well huh?

My car is a DD but I would like to both do some HPDE and go back to the Texas Mile. Heat is an obvious concern but also venting the hood has a profound affect on aero at the 'Mile speeds, right? If I had some assurances that the vent will not have any negative affects regarding water intrusion that would mean a lot.


Maybe someone would want mine to experiment with? The fist size dent is just over the passenger side headlight.

Yes, and I do like the Tiger hood. It just seemed like actually purchasing it was a convoluted process, no storefront, etc. I understand they are a racing team and all, so I'll let them get to that. For me, the Steeda hood's price would probably be my limit anyway. And maybe I'd get what I pay for in terms of performance... I'm new to this spending a lot of money on car mods game, the $ still shock me sometimes. So, I guess for now I'm still in the hood tire-kicking phase. But I did go into a limp mode of sorts (as best I could tell) at a recent track day. So heat is an issue I should address. Maybe the Boss radiator is in my future.

Maybe I just missed it in all the posts, but you'll need to flange the hood if you want the extractor to sit flush.... here's a link.

I thought the vents on the 13 hood would work good but I would want to have them sit flush.

Any thoughts on the Shelby Deep Draw hood? I can't find a link to buy it but it is available for their new GTS model and was also available on the '05-09 Shelby GT.

That thing looks pretty wild! I'm sure it will help remove heat. The vent opening looks too far forward in some of those pictures, but looks fine in some too. Maybe different mockups?

It's a balance between chasing the lowest external pressure near the front of the hood, and giving the airflow a nice smooth path to run through the radiator, then up and out, without drastic direction changes.

I was reading on some other forum that I can't find at the moment where a guy mentioned a brief spray of water when driving in the rain. He saw it as a good demonstration that the vent is in fact allowing a fair amount of airflow through the grille and radiator.

"My GTS' deepdraw hood sneezed on my windsheild. Actually it was more like a whale clearing its blowhole.
It rained all day. When driving home I made a quick lane change and water sprayed out of the screens. It did this twice.
I know I'm crazy, but am I that crazy?

My thinking is that the very front of the hood is bulged upwards somewhat and might change the pressure gradient both over and under the hood and move the low-pressure area further forward. It may have been done for asthetic purposes because it retains the stock hood bulge/blister. However it may have also been for a cleaner airflow pattern at very high speeds but I am no fluid dynamics expert.

Unfortunately Shelby as far as I can tell won't sell the Deep Draw Hood to the public unless you already own one of their cars with one.
