Did the tabs on the bumper get rip? Or is it the clip panel the screws to the body that is damaged? When i was a kid, guys would cut the key off wile driving and then turn it back to run . It would cause huge back fire and scare people. It would al so blow up the mufflers just like yours.

Both are damaged. The cover requires replacement.

as shitty of them as it is, I knew this is what they would do to you.

Yep, they were all concerned at first, even called me. Then they tried to play hard ball with Summit, which then turned them into an asshole company.

Now they're ignoring me. I posted this over at SVTPerformance and a few people already said they were considering them for headers but not now.

This is a terrible company to deal with.

As much as I feel bad for you, Warranty's cover defects in material and,or workmanship, and it is clear that you mufflers (both) suffered from explosion, most likely from raw gas, or fuel vapor. That is not the responsibility of the manufacture. Sorry. At least you got another set of mufflers.

Now you're jumping into my world of expertise. When you make claims and state you have test data to show that your product can survive in said environment and it does not then you have 1 of 2 issues.

1. Defected product
2. False claim

Either way you should be insured to take on the risks of either assuming you keep your defect rate low, around 3.4 defects per million.

The muffler did not explode, as one could take a hammer and pound it back into place, they split at the seem. There is ZERO missing external material on this muffler. If it was constructed properly the seem would not of burst.

I feel for you man. I know you take exceptional care of your car. Now it is damaged and the manufacture thinks it is all your fault. I thought that they where a good company before this situation. Even have there system on a duramax.

Why couldn't it rupture like that without an "explosion" causing it. When you blow up a balloon and poke it with a needle...does the air seep out or does it explode. If there as enough pressure built up inside the muffler when the material let go...couldn't it "pop" similar to a balloon and cause the damage shown in the pictures?

Just a thought.

I'm actually looking around for a different catback or axleback, this thread and the way they treated a customer has made me cross them off the list

I really don't see this as MBRP's fault. WOT box causes the welds to be weakened and the buildup of exhaust backpressure from using a chambered muffler in a FI configuration caused additional fatigue till the seam came apart.

Looking at cutaways of other mufflers, the MBRP isn't any thinner material than any others I am finding.

He was offered another set of mufflers as warranty, he declined, I don't see any problem here.

It's obvious it was a backfire of some sort, and no, that isn't a seem that it busted at. Exhaust can generate around 20 psi for 1k hp, these mufflers were tested to 600 psi.

You should have taken the replacement mufflers. That's more than what I expected them to do.

It's because the vendor took care of it BUT then MBRP declined their warranty claim so the vendor attempted to relcaim payment from me after the swap was already done.

This was after a phone conversation after they made the offer. MBRP was caught playing games. It was a scum bag move on their part and these pictures and threads are going to follow them for quite some time.

These were defective, the end.

Really? Many other brands seem to hold up well. These were defective. A wot box shift did not break them. It's the games MBRP tried playing after the fact that is going to ruin their reputation, not their inferior product.

So Summit tried to get money back from you when MBRP denied the warranty?
I've all but completely stopped selling parts because I would always get stuck in Summits position. I wouldn't expect the customer to pay after I accepted it back. And it happens too often.

Yep, according to Summit MBRP tried playing hardball after they said no big deal.

If they said no from the get go, I would've just went directly to MBRP, but typically if you buy a product and it's faulty you go to who sold it to you.
