I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on this as I'm in the market for an EB, and this is the first I've seen these claims.

Have you heard of bad towing capabilities?

A friend of mine had 5.4 which he traded in on an Ecoboost. He doesn't have much of a lead foot or tow for that matter but he does some hauling as he is a contractor. He loved the truck at first but when the honeymoon was over he said mileage was only slightly better than 5.4. Around town he claims he got mid to high teens with the 5.4 and sees high teens with the EB.

I tow a lot so I went with F350 diesel which get's around 17-18 around town and around 16 when towing a 7000# trailer. The 5.4 got 7-8 towing the same trailer. I also seized a front caliper and had occasional trans issues as a result of towing in the F150.

Brother inlaw bought a brand new Dodge crew cab two years ago. He paid a ton for it and has nothing but grief. Trans, u joint after u joint, bearing failure everywhere, rear differential, oil pump, fuel leak, etc. And thats just off the top of my head. Sad part is he traded in his old Dodge truck since after 5 years it was falling apart and the new truck was such a deal.
I have owned both dodge an ford. The dodge was a mechanical mess but the fords rusted away.

who buys a truck for fuel economy? trucks just get shitty gas mileage, thats the way it goes. My step dad has a 2012 FX4 with the 6.2L and its beautiful. The only thing I dont like about it, is the braking. other than that, its a great truck. My grandpa has owned f150s as his daily since i was a kid, this last one was a 2006 with nearly 300,000 miles on it. He tore that thing up driving it everyday and using it as his work truck driving on fields. It still worked after all the abuse. I really think its all about your preference and the feel you like.

You can always find anecdotes of people who have had trouble with a vehicle. I, for instance, owned a Dodge Ram and never had one problem with it.

This is the same experience we had on the farm. However, if you just drive the GMC like a high car and tow a boat on the highway, they are pretty good vehicles.

O well all this being said, I have a brand new 2012 ECO BOOST FX4 sitting in my garage right now. :) And everyone thought I was going to buy the dodge.

Pics and details?

2012 ECOBOOST 4x4 doing it's first off-roading! I don't think dodge or chevy would be able to make it through this terrain. Glad I bought the Ford! BTW coming from the v8/ NA-V6 world. The ecoboost is weird. There isn't really any noise. And it's super smooth. There's no kick really when you give it the gas. It just starts accelerating. 50-90 goes by quickly even at 1/4 throttle. It kind of reminds me of a less powerful, smaller, and more quiet, f-250 powerstroke. And no, i'm not too concerned about gas mileage. It's a truck and will probably get 13-15 like every other truck i've owned.

If you jump ship because of one bad car from a mfg., you'll run out of mfg's before too long.

I vote for the Ford...

The only issue I've had was the keypad needed to be replaced...I've logged
17k miles, and according to NADA, (which we all know is bull) the retail price of my truck is as good as it was 2 years ago when I bought it...Just checked it....

Looks a lot like my Platinum I just gave my son. Mine was an 09 5.4 3v and has 279k on it and the only thing ever done to it was a rear end rebuild at 120k. My son loves it and I now have a 2012 Super Duty 6.7 Lariat. No reason to stray from Ford here!

Yes, very nice truck! My son is 20 and in collage. He will enjoy it Im sure. I take very good care of my trucks and they usually look like they have 1/4 of the miles they do. I have a 100 mile commute each way to work and am all over the Dallas metro area all day. If it can make 279k under my foot then it is a solid truck.

Ha ha, I think you missed some of the conversation. I bought the Ford. Ram's are still way nice. But the Ford seemed better for me. I love it so far, except for the new car dash squeek! Ha ha, i always get ones with squeeks.
