I would avoid adjusting pinion angles unless you know exactly what your doing. Just a piece of advice. My suspension mods have been a night mare for me

I assume the sticky summer only tires are why i'm seeing it on the M6 car and didnt see it on the A6 equipped car.

That's also because you shock the drivetrain when you drop the clutch with a manual. With an auto, all the drivetrain is preloaded when you're on the converter.

GTOs had the same issue except with its IRS, wheel hopping meant you were going to break an axle stub or halfshaft.

It's the shock is what causes hop. I've played around with ideas on wheel hop and one test we did all we changed was wheels and tires. Went from 17" stockers with stock tires to 15" race stars with a 28" tall drag radial. The amount of wheel hop dropped about 90% and sometimes 100%. The suspension was able to unload to the tires and the tires had enough sidewall to take that impact. LCA's and UCA is a good plan, but unless you take the bouces away from the springs and shocks it will still hop. Sometimes you can get away with stock spring and a slower rebounding shock. Cheapest way to go and see if any results.

what kills me about wheelhop is that people start throwing parts at it but there has to be something far simpler to remedy it. I had a 2011 manual that had the stock 18" tires and then FRPP K springs and 19" 275mm summer tires. I had no wheel hop with any of those combos.

I traded that for a 2011 Auto that had the stock 19" tires and then Eibach Sportlines with the same summer tires listed above. No wheel hop on this car either.

I wonder if it has something to do with bolts not being tight enough or bushing not being installed properly. Or perhaps the mounting points are welded onto the rear end just a bit off.

I havent dropped the clutch on the car yet, this happened when i stabbed it at a roll and when i let the clutch out and accelerated as soon as clutch was engaged. does the torsen diff have anything to do with it? my Camaro had wheel hop issues but i attributed that to independent suspension, the SRT8 challengers have the same problem.

I think its just the summer p zeros. My blizzaks or invos didn't hop like the pirellis...

I kind of agree. I switched to the all season p zeros on my new wheels and they don't hop but just spin and actually hook better as well. I still need to get my lower control ams and konis on to see the suspension difference

Wheel hop is caused by two things;

1) Axle stability (lack of)
2) Wheel speed (too much)

Wheel hop can be cured by two things;

1) Stabilizing Rear Axle
2) Increasing Traction

If someone does not have wheel hop on a stock car, it is due to their wheel-speed when spinning the tires. If the tires are spinning "too" much, there will be no wheel hop. If they are barely spinning (car is spinning but car is moving at a decent rate) wheel hop will typically be worse / more violent.

There are several ways to increase stabilization of the rear axle. Bushings, Springs, LCA, UCA.

There are several ways to promote traction. Less aggressive driving, stickier tires, suspension / adjustments.

If someone is experiencing wheel hop, the EASIEST and usually cheapest method of eliminating it is LCA and Relocation brackets.

My '12 m6 car hopped really bad with standard 18" pzero's. It would hop when taking off hard, doing a burnout and horribly on the 1-2 shift at the track. I put on a pair LCA's and relocation brackets and used the lowest holes. His "all but eliminated" my wheel hop. I still got a little on occasion on the 1-2 shift. I've since bought and adjustable UCA but I haven't installed it yet so I can't tell you how well it works but I think it should do the trick. I was getting low 1.8 sixty foot times before and I think I may have even gotten a high 1.7 but I'll have to look through my slips to be sure of that one.

O RLY?

Then how does a fully stock suspended car minus front swaybar and with rear QA1 shocks go 1.50 60 foot?

Very sloppily.

interesting enough I only experienced wheel hop at the track but only when I shifted into 2nd gear... Looks like I need to do some modding before I add power. UPR seems like a good deal is there any discount available?

I was having the same issues with wheel hop at the track in my stock 2013. Then I put m&h drag tires on and haven't had a single problem since

I had very light wheelhop, LCA's brought it down to nothing.
Still looking to replace that stamped steel UCA soon!

Just recently replaced lcas and uca, car feel much better, more grounded to the ground lol. Also that soft ass bushing between stock uca and tq mount is gone so it feels less mushy on take off or anytime you are accelerating hard.

Stop looking to replace uca and DO IT!!! Lol
