My wife and I are going to a club dinner in Houston today (90 mile each way), Lito said I'm good to drive it so I'm looking forward to the trip. I'm not looking to race anyone till I get the 8-9psi tune done and ready. Has anyone gone from running cats on their turbo setup to gutting them? Will sound and performance change much?

Well alright, yes sir! Lol
Thanks Jeremy, I was planning on doing it soon, just wanted to see how it would perform with them since others with the same kit as mine didn't have any complaints. I think it sounds too quiet anyways.

Just from a safety standpoint a clogged cat can easily pop your motor. Not worth the risk imho. It is a flow restriction so removing them will decrease backpressure so less heat in the motor and more hp as well. As far as sound goes the turbo is a essentialy a muffler so the car wouldn't be that much louder after removing them.

Ok, I'm going to check with Lito to see if he needs to send me a different tune for this setup, then I'll just punch them out or replace them. Thanks again.

Idk if I mentioned this before, but I'm not running the stock cats, I'm using the ones provided with the kit, and the way its set up, they are after the turbo. It's header, kit pipes, y pipe that joins, up pipe, turbo, down pipe, y pipe that splits, cats, h pipe, Saleen/magnaflows. So if they break up, it'll go out the trail pipe, not the turbo. Does it matter? Still gut them?

I think he meant the cats can choke the motor making too much back pressure, causing engine failure. I would go ahead and get rid of them from everything I've heard. The more flow the better!

Yeah, I just wanted to clarify how they are. I'm hoping they make the car sound better too. My main concern was if I was to ever sell the car, would it be easier to sell it with or w/o the cats. I don't think I'll be selling anytime soon if ever, I hate that I over-think shit all the time, lol.

Agree about over thinking. You have a thread about getting it powered up finally. The thought of sales should be far from your mind. Enjoy that beast

Like mentioned its not about material going into the turbo. When the cat breaks up and unravels it clogs the exhuast. Do a search for cats and boost or clogged cat etc.

Here's one.

Ok so I've been pretty busy for the last few weeks, I'm finally going to do the cat delete, get a log and hopefully get another tune to turn up the boost and take it to the track next weekend. Just looking for a good clean run with a 118+ trap speed, that should tell me where I can be with better tires. I'll definitely get a vid.

Dont want this shit clogging up the exhuast and taking out your motor.

Turbo cars trap a bit higher than blower cars by the way, you should see 120mph+ at 475-500rwhp.

I hope i trap 120+, just expecting 118 so anything higher will be a nice surprise, lol. I looked at several other forums and it's a consistent problem with fi cars so they're coming out. Thanks Jeremy!

What PSI are you running now? Im going to just get a Tial wastegate spring so i wont have the urge to up the boost with the controller LOL I cant decide whether to get the 7.3 psi spring or the 8.7 psi.

Running the 5.7 spring so it hits 6#s and stays there. I have my mbc wide open right now till I get rid of the cats, I'll dial it up to @8-9. It's under the hood so I can't just turn it up on the fly, lol. I know that's the limit so I won't go any higher, maybe Lito can get me a race tune for race fuel...
