Put my suspension in today... Which actually started yesterday.... Got half of the front end off and found out I didnt have a 18mm Deep Socket, Just a normal depth one. By the time everything was put back together, it was dark. So bright and early today, my ratchet broke on the second bolt on the front struts. Had to walk to the store and buy a new one. Finally get the struts outs, and my spring compressor is too big for my coils. So I had to call a cab to Midas and they swapped my springs out with the new ones. Call another cab to take me home. Put both of the assembled struts in like 15 minutes. Starting putting the 2nd front wheel on and remembered I forgot the damn xmas tree clip on the brake line. Off come the wheels again. clipped it in, put the wheels on and started the rear.
Jacked the car up, put the stands under the car and moved the jack to the axel. Bolts come off, and everything is is pieces in 20 minutes for both sides. No compression gizmo needed, just lower the axel down and everything is gravy. Unbolt the old lower control arms and then everything goes to a grinding halt. I can get the fucking bushings from BMR LCA's to fit in the brackets. So I said, ok I'll attach the sway bar end links to hold the axel up and use the jack to push it in to place. Bolt one side of the sway bar up, and go around to the other side and find that its flipped over to the muffler side and cant be rotated up into the bracket. Go back around to the other side, unbolt it, lower it down, rotate the other so it clears everything and bolt it back up. Yay.
Back to the LCA's. Had to use the jacks on both sides to push it up into the slot and the beat the living hell out of it to line up, which took forever. Then its time to replace the factory Panhard bar with the adj. BMR version. Same fucking problem. I even greased the living hell out of those bushings this time just to make sure. Ended up getting the Frame side bushing in, but no luck on the other side. So I finished putting the rest of the suspension back together, put the wheels on and then lower the car down and proceded to rotate the adjuster on the panhard bar to force it to line up with the hole. 2 hours later. (mind you the car is now finished being lowered, and the wheels are on so Im working in an even tighter space. Yay the bolts are all in. Well Fuck. Because I used the adjustment to push the bushing into place on the axel side, the axel has shifted to the drivers side about 2 inches. So the tire is past the fender and the drivers side is tucked way the fuck up in side the wheel well. Now to undo all my turns I made on the bar to re center it. Another hour and a half later, Its done.
tl;dr: I love working on my car, and love the new BMR parts and K springs... but my car would just not have it today.
