Anyone set up a throttle stop???

I was doing that all last year and it was a pain. I also tried short shifting but that really didn't do squat with my car. I did my "manual" throttle stop at the 330' mark on my car but against some of the vehicles I will be up against at Atco it's not going to be nearly good enough. I need something that will be very accurate (.005 accurate) and that's only going to happen with a delay box and an electronic throttle stop.

There are some killer racers at Atco so if I can rig it up I will. I'm going to be racing a street car against purpose built drag cars so I need every edge I can get.

Atco is the easiest place on earth to race. I would recomend taking the classroom bracket course given by Bud McNasby. Bud runs the speed shop and races an Olds called Something Else. Well worth the money. There hasn't been a single student who hasen't improved by the course. Tell Bud that Florida Jim said hello.

Spot dropping at the 330 is way to early. The killers will pick up on the scrub that early and drive the stripe on ya. I'm competitive footbreaking my 14 second street car there. Unless your running super you don't need a delay box. Just set the car up properly. To become the best you have to race the best and Atco is the place.

I know all about that class but unfortunately he is extremely biased to foot-brake racing. I am friends with his competitor Dave Harvey Jr(known him for about 14 years from work, not racing).

I have been racing at Atco for a few years but really just started trying to be competitive starting last year. Finished 4th in the 11.50 index even with loosing my engine and having to borrow other cars for the last 3 races. Would have probably been in the top 15-20 in gamblers if I hadn't lost my engine as well.

I have become good friends with the guy who built my engine, Steve Everett, who owns and races 2 dragsters at Atco and Raceway Park. I plan on being more of a trans-brake and delay box racer mainly because it just seems more fun to me.

I'll try and remember to mention you next time I see Bud there.

Sir your are standing tall racing there. Harvy is a great guy and an increadable foot brake racer. I was introduced to Dave back in 2004. I believe Bud is using a delay box in the car he is using to run Super Pro. I'm down in Florida and just got a car with a 2 step and trans brake. Getting phone support from Bud. Thanks for the kind words...I don't have high hopes if I do try and run in Super Pro, but the only way to get practice is to do it. I need to finally commit to one type of racing since it was challenging to say the least to run in Street foot-braking, gamblers using a delay box and the 11.50 index just with the trans brake on a pro tree.

I just hope my car will run 10.0 so I can just leave the power level at the same setting all the time.

Talk to Bud about installing a Waliegh (Wall Lee) throttle controller. Wonderful device. Its legel for street and pro at Atco. I got one in my bracket car (actually the proto type taken from Dan's Trial and Error Falcon) and perfer using that over the trans brake. I deep stage and my RT for a pro .500 and sportsman tree are the same.

You're not pulling my leg with the Wally are you? I know that's a trophy to win in racing and I tried searching up the throttle controller and nothing comes up on google.

Throttle control doesn't work at all in my car with the edelbrock blower...once I get to a certain point and the bypass valve closes on the blower the car goes WOT. Lito and I had tried dialing the throttle percentage all the way back to 65% and it didn't do a damn thing.

No. Its a handle with a cable attached to push the throttle open. The launch rmp is preset with a turn screw inside the car. Handle has a trigger which is also adjustable. You will have to talk to Bud if it would work on a fly by wire car. Dan seemed to think it would work on my 07 mustang. Dan created the device and I believe Bud sells them in Atco speed shop. FYI Dan won the 10k event at Maple last year. I'll be coming up to Maple Grove for the weekend of April 20 and 21 for this years 10k.
