After it finally arrived I installed it yesterday; I was under the impression it was plug and play and that is not the case, I searched on here to see if anyone had done a write up and did not find one so here we go!

Jacked the car up and started on the removal of the stock d/s; you HAVE to have a 12pt 12mm socket to remove the 4 stock bolts-which will be reused-that hold the flange to the d/s. You will need a 6 pt 10mm socket to remove the 6 stock bolts on the d/s end that bolt into the differential housing and you will need a 13mm 6pt socket to remove the bolts that attatch the bracket to the frame. I had to remove the drivers side exhaust mid pipe to get the stock d/s out (15MM) as the I guess I did not have the car in the air high enough.

The DSS d/s is shipped with everything installed/connected and no instructions; you need to remove the 6 7/16 hex head bolts that are holding the adapter on, once those 6 bolts are removed wiggle the adapter off and then you will see how to get to the other 6 hex head bolts that are used to attach the flange to the diff.

Install the adapter to the diff using the shorter 6 7/16 bolts, then slide the d/s into positon and what I did was put the 4 stock 12mm bolts on the flange side to assist in holding the d/s in place...I put them on far enough to support the d/s. The I installed the 6 longer 7/16 hex head bolts through the d/s and into the adapter on the diff side; once that was done I tightened the 4 12mm bolts on the flange side and was done.

The hardest part of all of this was the getting up and down from under the car and shifting the car in and out of N/P to gain access to the various bolts.

I have a little clunk where the d/s is hitting the exhaust only when shifting out of gear-from P to R and R to D-which I will have to adjust and I did notice some harmonics when decelling at arounf 45-50 mph but other than that all is well....took it up to around 80mph and so far no vibes.

Thanks for this, mine's on a delivery truck somewhere, I should have it Tuesday.
Gonna have a performance shop do the install along with a few other things, I have faith in them doing a great job installing it, but certainly am a little apprehensive about possible vibrations ... I drive at ~80 quite a bit since I commute about 60 miles of hwy each day and if I get vibes, this thing's going back and I'm getting a Shaftmasters unit, which is cheaper and a bolt-in piece, according to their site ...

If there is any sort of vibe or harmonic, clock the d/s 90* on the tranny side and it should fix the issue as per dss. Takes just a few minutes.

while i kind of agree...but no matter how simple an install is, it should always have instructions...hell my hood struts had instructions (some of the best ive ever had, lol).

+1

All products should have instructions, regardless of how "self-explanatory" it is.

Disconnect the shifter linkage under the car and use the lever on the trans to shift into and out of park.

Also, honestly, if you need instructions to install the driveshaft, maybe you should seek out a mechanic...

yes it can be done without instructions...but there is something to be said for knowing exactly what your doing it before attempting it and being as educated as possible.. a fucking sheet of instructions couldnt hurt them... ;-)

luck favors the prepared...great saying to live life by ;-)

I have a dynotech DS. No issues with mine. Install was easy took about 45 min total. That was putting it on the lift and all. It didn't come with no directions either.

Just received my DSS driveshaft. Looks awesome, no crazy metal shaved off like somebody else posted recently of his flange being shaved thin on one side

^ Yea that was mine.

Thanks for the write up Greg, you should have just pm'ed me and I would have been able to start you off in the right direction. I recently installed mine on jack stands. it took me a few hours to install the ds, bmr lca relocation brackets and a front ds safety loop. And I agree some instructions would have been nice. But o well. I'm very mechanically inclined but that still doesn't mean I want to go into it blindly lol. Good job. I may have missed it but did you have any vibration issues?

EDIT: just reread your first post. I had no vibrations issues at 80 and thought I was golden, mine showed up at 100 mph, and now they don't start till 110.

How many lbs for the trans bolts? 72?
Red loctite on all the bolts? What if the ds needs to get clocked, will the bolts come out w/ the red loctite on them?

57 front, 41 rears for both adapter plate and CV Joint. I used red loctite just like the OEM bolts had.

Does anyone know why these use the adaptor plate? Why couldn't they design them to bolt right to the diff like the factory shaft? Doesn't make any sense to me. I installed my DSS shaft a couple weeks ago. I'm not 100% satisfied. I do have a little vibe up around 100. But I've got 4.10's which dramatically increases shaft speed, and I don't drive around at a 100 anyway, it's really minimal, so it's really not a big deal. I'll take the weight savings.

When I had the 2010 and 410's I had vibes from my Coast d/s; I though it was just me until Luke-LAllison20-who had 410's and the Coast had the same vibes/speed until he had 355's installed; sees the 410 gears and alum d/s's do not play well together.
