Just thought that we would share a little project we decided to jump head first into late Monday.

We were planning to run at Mid-Ohio this weekend, with NASA. We have a couple of cars going, and have been wanting to build a Spec Iron car for the new series. After just getting back from our Grand-Am race at Road Atlanta, we decided to see if we could get this car to the track in time for this weekend.

We started with a stock 2010 Mustang GT. The pics below show the first 24 hours progress. I don't have a true "before" pic, but it was essentially all stock, just missing the windshield and inner door panels. Other than that, it was complete. We stripped it down to a roller and delivered the car to the cage builder first thing in the morning. They spent all day building and installing the cage, while we worked on the motor back at our shop. Currently the car is on the lift being reassembled by our team. We're just waiting on a few odds and ends to arrive so we can keep bolting everything together.

Sorry for the blurry pics. We'll post more as we make more progress.

Can't wait for more! It's good to hear from racing teams in the professional/semi-professional race series. More knowledge being spread is a good thing.

Who is driving your CTSCC car (the car in your avatar)? I've been following the series for the past two years and it never ceases to entertain! :) For some reason I don't remember seing you guys as a sponsor for any teams though? I'm not all that up to speed on all the sponsors though.

Anyway, the car looks ready for some good ole fashioned rally at that ride height! :) Granted, no drivetrain. Keep us updated!

I like the Moon Pie car in the back ground! I havent seen them sponser anyone in a while!

Did they mimic a FR500 cage? The side bars look the same.

Whiskey - Thanks for the compliments. Dean Martin, co-owner/driver for Rehagen Racing campaigned the red car. Currently we are competing CTSCC with the Moonpie car in the background of the last pic. Dean and co-driver Roddey Sterling (rookie driver) have run at Daytona, Barber, and Road Atlanta so far this year.

350 - They used some cues from current and former Ford Racing cages. It was co-designed by us and the builder/installer.

There are 3 guys working on the car now. This is the slow part of the build, where you don't see big changes. They are removing the rest of the sound deadening, cleaning up under the hood, finishing up some cage details and the dash, and prepping the new parts to be installed.

Adding tow hooks, FRPP Radiator mounted, hood pin mounts welded in...

Just waiting to start bolting new parts on. We're prepping the seat mounts for our new MOMO Lesmo XL seat. Front LCA, bumpsteer, and bushings are installed.

Car has to be in the trailer before 2pm on 4/25, so no paint on the cage. We'll be painting the cage when it gets back. Paint won't keep us from racing.

More than likely, we'll shoot the entire interior after the first race. We'll need to paint the cage and cover up where the sound deadening was removed.

Yeah that is what I figured. Not like it will be that hard to strip back out the seats, then cover up the dash. Role bar padding will cover most of what hands and feet would touch getting in and out.

At least the rules allow that. Sure would suck for the car to fail tech because the cage wasn't painted.

What shocks and struts are you guys going to use for this car? That seems like the part with the most leeway but 2k is pretty low for a set of good dampers. Also what clutch and shifter? Stock for now?
