I know you can waste gate I centri to have boost come on sooner with a smaller pulley yet still keep peak boost lower so is it possible to add a controller to a just boost rather then changing springs in the WG?

Yes it is.

How does a boost controller and waste gate go in a procharger system?

Meaning where in the system do the parts fit? I know nothing about turbo systems.

The WG goes before the IC next to the BOV. I use the AEM Trueboost on mine. I have a 16# spring. There are two settings on the Trueboost, A&B, the A setting is spring pressure and the B setting is what ever your pulley makes. You can tune for the pulley and then just back it down by changing the setting on the Trueboost.

Here is a thread to read.

Mine are on the pipe just prior to the intercooler. The boost controller fits in the control lines common to the wastegate. It lets you double the amount of boost the spring is good for. For instance you could have a 12# spring and be able to have the wg hold 24lbs of boost when you want more.

Plan the location out carefully. I didn't do a good enough mock up and had fitment issues that had to be corrected.

The waste gate is nice. Mine blows off right at 14psi. It's a nice way to use a smaller pulley for faster boost build up without having too much boost on the top end.

I cant wait till I do the swap to 25 psi with this setup and e85. No more changing tunes and fuel from the track to the street. Just push a button on the dash and I go from 25 psi to 16 psi. Doesn't get much easier then that!

Ok, I've read plenty of threads now on this and I'm not stressed but putting the things I need together and finding someone local to tune it. The sensitivity setting threw me a bit.

So you guys are installing an exhaust wastegate in your charge piping, referencing it to the intake manifold, and using it to maintain a lower pressure than what the blower's pulley would normally produce, thus giving you more boost at lower RPMs and less boost at higher RPMs. You're doing this by venting excess boost to the ambient atmosphere when the boost level exceeds the wastegate spring. I assume you're using a blow-through MAF setup, as well.

Did I get that right?

Yes to all the above. Then we use a boost controller to make the change on the fly. If you are using the same fuel for both boost levels, you can tune to the high boost and not have to change tunes when lowering the boost. One big reason I am switching to E85. Right now I have to change tunes and fuels with my boost levels since the high boost is on C16 and the low boost is on 93 oct. Depending on boost levels, you could do it all on pump though.

I did mine on the cheap. EMUSA 38mm wastegate with 3 springs, fittings, and flanges was $60 on ebay. Manual boost controller was $30. I also needed a small piece of steel tubing for the flange. Had a buddy weld it up. I haven't used the mbc yet. I'm fairly certain that putting the reference line on the other banjo fitting common to the wastegate would give me max boost when I wanted it. For my purposes the mbc really isn't needed because all I want is 14psi and max boost.

How do you switch from low boost to high boost without the use of the mbc?

Just a note on the Trueboost or other controller, it is nice to have a boost recall function. Say you make a pass or a run on the road and something just doesn't feel right. You think, man my belt is slipping , you just push the recall function and you know what the peek boost was on the run.
