Have had a couple people asking me about my avatar picture, wanting to know what it is about and to post the full size photo so here it is....

I had just overtaken some slower moving cars and a lorry, what I didn't notice was the speed camera van which took the above photo of my car, I went to court and received a $1200 fine and had 6 penalty points added to my license (allowed 12 here then it's a ban)

Are you allowed to contest the offenses there, as here? At least plea for a lower penalty?
I noticed it was '06. Here they can take your license for 20mph over the limt; exhibition of speed, reckless driving.

Yes you can always contest the offense, I was lucky to keep my license as they mentioned banning me from driving for 7 days instead of the points, wish they had really as I would have got a plane to Florida had a vacation then returned home being able to drive again!

You would have only lost your license for 7 days for getting nicked at 101mph in a 60mph zone (prior conversation, stkjock)?! Cor! More than 40mph over the limit. They would impound the vehicle, loss of license for 1 year and cart you off to jail here in California.
Plane to Florida? :wtf:

Dang, makes me feel even more fortunate!

Got stopped for 109 in a 55 and got a warning. I know the only reason I got the warning though was because it was right by our Airport ... I was on my way to work, and was in uniform (Badge and all).

The cop that pulled me over was one of the LEO's (Law Enforcement Officer) that worked in the Airport ... he just walked up to the window and smiled and told me maybe I should slow it down.

Scared the crap outta me, atleast 'till I saw who it was. The bad thing is, I wasn't even late for work ... I had just opened her up. All-in-all, I've probably gotten 5 or so warnings in the car ... no tickets (yet). [knock on wood]

Meant no harm, just a dig at other members. I used to go there regularly when I was in the service. Always enjoyed myself.

BTW, whats gas cost over there? Today, 91 octane was $2.33 here.
Well if you go back for a vacation give me a shout for accomodation :thumb:

Reg gas here works out at approx $5 a US gallon, premium is around $6

Thanks for the offer!

Damn! Has the gas always been that price, or has it gone up this past year like ours? The highest I paid this year was $4.69 a gallon, lowest, $2.03.

/\ G-damn how'd u get out of that!!!

My sexy lawyer noticed that niether I nor the State Trooper that issued the ticket signed it.

They have 30 days from the date of the ticket to make me sign it, so I heard. If I had gone to court and the Trooper was present he could've made me sign it right then and there. So I simply let my lawyer represent me, and it was dismissed.:evillaugh:
