I presumed they were footings for where the weight-bearing walls are going.

got ya ....makes since yea down here we dont do too many 2 story houses you know with the hurricanes n all lmao but so far so good looks like you deff got yourself a good contractor as stated before someone who actually takes time to clean the area that good between rounds shows the way they run the business where small details matter

Not much visual progress to report this week. The plan was for the builder to start digging for utilities on Wednesday, but they delayed it due to rain this week. Weather permitting, they will start digging Monday. It will take about a week and a half to have electrical meters set, which will provide permanent power for construction. They expect to start dropping lumber on the first home sites on Monday, Feb 16. Maybe we'll see some framing starting in a couple weeks.

Since the builder wasn't active on-site this week, I had my retaining wall contractor come in and finish up the drainage system in the yard. He already had it behind the wall, but had not been able to get to the other areas because of the concrete forms, trenches and piles of dirt/debris.

Thanks Chris. The framing will be a pretty neat process to observe for me.

That's exactly what they were. Plus, you're in California so they're a bit deeper than most anywhere else in the country. All that shakin' stuff y'all have out there.

Helps to stabilize the slab also. Some of the better builders around the Houston area have started doing that as well. Our soil is so moist that there were several areas that had slab problems. The deep trenches helped stabilize the structure to the point that foundation companies around here are saying......
:wtf:

Would probably work well in Lousyana as well. Even down in that damn swamp you live in, Freak.

There are quite a few building codes here specifically for seismic reasons. That's a good thing... even though I personally haven't felt any tremors here in the past 15 years.

quite impressive to see progress, my family lost two homes when I was growing up, very tough to lose everything you own, looks like it will be one kick ass place when done!

can I use the lift?

I'll make sure once we figure out a good date that I post it up as far in advance as I can.
