Don't know much about road course racing but....

I have a friend who is wanting to sell me his TSW 18x9.5 with BFG G-Force R1 auto/race tire. The sizes are 285/35Z/R18. The OD would only be like 25.4 and I'm not much on road coursing. Tires are in great shape. They are high dollar so I'm wondering is this something I will be able to sell easily on the board to you road racers or hard sell? I would just try selling them and putting some 285/40/18 on for me.

Hell, to keep from de-mounting I may just do a trade for the 4-wheels/tires or just sell them and make 50.00. Just not sure how these tires are gonna sell is my dilema

R1's are probably a tough sell. There are better (cheaper) options out there.

You might be able to get 200 (?) for the set.

The trouble with selling the used R1s, or any R-comp tire for that matter, is that your target market is likely going to want to know how used up they are and what condition they're in. They should be asking:
- How many heat cycles are on them?
- How old are they?
- Under what conditions have they been stored?
- (and likely) Flat spots, excessive shoulder wear, etc.?

If they're not asking that, you've got a sucker on your hands. To each his own on how you deal with suckers. Personally I have a pair of sticker R1s that I'm getting ready to throw away - I won't sell them because even I think they're worthless and I'm something of a tire slut (these dirty girls are 2007 tires, previously stored outdoor in freezing temps, & hard as hell to the touch). I got them as part of a pkg deal for no extra cost...hmmm, wonder why?

Back to your situation. If you have a tire with a ton of heat cycles on them, you're going to have to give them away for pennies on the dollar. You may think of them as high-dollar (and they were when new), but if they've got 2 track weekends on them (figure 20-24 heat cycles), then only a sucker will give you premium dollar for them. Used, these sort of tire lose their value in a massive hurry.

Yep, if you can get $100-200 for a used set of R-compounds that might have cost $1400/set new, you're doing pretty good.

I see and it makes lots of sense fellows. I'll de-mount the tires and shit-can them. They are not that great of shape upon close inspection. I will probably just post up the TSW wheels for sale. They should sell I think with them being 18x9.5. Thanks fellows

What style TSW are they? And what offset are the wheels? And like they said, you might be able to get 100 bux for the tires before you just toss them. Good luck.

18x9.5......They are the Nurburgring.....OS is 40

I ended up buying them last night. Love how light they are. The tires are not that great of shape. Specifically the ones that were on the front. The backs are decent or actually good. I could put those backs on just to find out how it is to stab the gas without spinning so much. I don't know what I am gonna do with these yet. Oh I had said they were 285 I think when actually they are 275.

Yeah, if you only look at American Muscles webpage... any other TSW dealer can get you up to 18x10.5 in 5x114.3 bolt pattern and a huge number of offsets...
