One thing that I absolutely refuse to do is edit a picture other than resize it. I don't use filters, editors, programs, nothing. I shoot with a bare bones Canon EOS Rebel XS with the 18-55 lens that came with it. I barely know how to adjust the settings on the camera, let alone use something like Photoshop. I did take an hour long photography class that my now ex got me from Groupon, and while it was mostly a waste of time, I did learn a few things about ISO and exposure, etc.

I love this picture, but the backdrop absolutely sucks. 2 buddies of mine, one night before we went out for a cruise. Sun was setting, and his car was shinier than any car I have ever seen.

All I did was crop it, adjusted the brightness a little and brightened the shadows a touch.

Thoughts?

First off, I like the picture. Composition can be very subjective, but I think its good. I would lighten shadows a little (to show detail of your front brakes and rotor--I tried it in my editor and it worked pretty good). I would also crop just the top part to get rid of the "ridge" and so its just all leaves. Thats about it. Just that your front wheel is a bit dark but you can correct that.

Like this. Notice how you can clearly see the rotor now, as well as some of your interior you couldn't see before.

Very minor changes I know. Also, for those of you shooting with DSLRs, always shoot in RAW. The editing with a RAW file vs a JPEG is 10X better.

I wanted to get the bars name in the photo, was kind of impressed with myself when I took it, after reading this thread not so much lol. Some good advice contained here.

Bad background but give me some credit for the Ford center cap being spot on.

Center cap spot on, big black dot over your front plate fail. Personally think that the shot would be better with the headlights off.

Lol I hear you about the dot but I never post my plate, and I uploaded it from my phone.

Great picture Mr302Coyote. This picture basically followed all of the rules I mention in the first post. Yes removing the exit sign did improve it also. Position of the car perfect, perspective perfect, lighting perfect, filled the frame, background good. Now, to nitpick (and it really is minor), I would have lowered the camera just a little bit more so that enclosure thingy on the door would have been behind the car and not visible......once again just to nitpick. Great shot. I love that you can see the clouds and the sky coming off of the car.

Dysan--you have lighting and color nailed. Feel free to jump in and give any advice also.
