Special tool for installing Harmonic balancer?

I need to pull the balancer to remove the front cover.
There is a ford pn for an installation tool.
Do I need this, or am I o.k. with a puller installer kit from OTC or similar?

Any bolt grip puller set will do

I just installed mine steeda UDP with a long bolt till it seated.
Then put the new bolt in and tightened er up.

I guess I could use the stock bolt and some washers to push it in.

It's not pressed on there by a 3 ton machine it's not that hard to get back on, couple turns with a bolt and you'll have it seated.

I have to buy the remover anyway, just had to justify the cost of the installer.
No one has the installer in stock anyway, guess I'll get the remover and try your bolt method.

Don't forget the rtv in the key way before installing.

don't buy a pulley puller , just go to auto zone and they have them in there loan a tool program, all you'll have to do is leave a deposit on the tool,then once you bring it back they will give you a full refund.

I ended up buying the tool to remove and the tool to install. Wasn't too bad just a tight space to work with for me.

Do not use the stock bolt to install the pulley!!! It is too short and some have damaged the threads in the crank!!

You need a slightly longer bolt than the stocker.

A 3 jaw puller can get the job done on the stocker. I bought one for $15 at Princess Auto (Canada's version of Harbor Freight) and it worked no problem.
Another way to get it back on is to throw the balancer in a pot of boiling water or in the oven at about 200 F and pop it on before it cools off. This one can be a bit tricky but usually works.

They don't have the correct puller for the balancer, I tried that once. They probably have the correct install tool though.

I don't mind gathering a tool collection, I am picking up the remover tool today.$30
