Hmmm...
Pull that starter and take a look at the flywheel teeth.
While you have it out, have someone turn the ignition over and make sure the starter gear is engaging.

ok thanks. then i, must join those who say maybe the flywheel has come back far enough, that the starter gear can no longer engage the flywheel.

sorry to hear this, but hang in there.....this can be fixed, but it does sound like the transmission is gonna have to come down.

You had the Trans worked on and/or Slave Cylinder changed(can't remember) but I bet the bolts backed out of the flywheel. I think you had FORD do the work. Tell them to FIX IT this time for free!!!!!

Is this going to be your dime for the repair? In reading the previous posts it appears you had Ford do some work that may have contributed to the issue.

mechanically the flywheel has made sense this whole time, but so doubtful because usually the clutch will slip before a flywheel breaks on these cars.

Well it is the original fly wheel and has 7 years of clutch dumps on it.
I am going to swap in something beefier next year, I've been launching at 6250 lately, want to up it to 6500.
It must have been going for a while because I haven't been to the track in over a month and the car felt fine this whole time till the other day.
Maybe the cold finished it off.

Sorry to hear about the failure, at least it didn't come apart during one of your launches though.

I had great luck with the Mach 400/Fidanza FW on my 3V NA setup. Took 6.5k+ clutch dumps like a champ for years.

Ok. I wasn't sure if you upgraded the shortblock and that's the original flywheel when that happened. I have a Centerforce flywheel taking up space in the garage, but it's for an 8 bolt crank.

Budget aside, I would choose the billet Exedy over Fidanza.

I picked Fidanza, because it was cheaper and still worked fine.
