Came home from my trip and my garage won't work. Seems like the motion/laser sensors aren't letting the door shut. It just jerks and then blinks signifying that something is in the way but it isn't..... Ugh and I believe it is the sensors because if the garage light goes out, and I walk across the sensor it won't come back on.

Anyone have any experience with this? It's a lift master system.

Are the two sensors pointing at each other? Mine have small lights on them which will blink if they are out of alignment.

Have you tried unplugging it? I know simple answer but my old one would do similar things now and then. The other option is to check the sensors, if they are not facing directly at each other this same thing will occur. Some have yellow and some have red/green lights... make sure the light on both sides is lit up. If it isn't check the wires on the back to make sure they are good and tight.

I see they have LEDs on them but I've never checked to see if they've lit up since the way our cars are parked in there we can't see them easy.

I've tried unplugging. I'll try and align them after I finish unpacking

You can try holding down the button inside the house to see if it will close that way.
One of the Craftsman openers I have at the new house does just that and it's the only way I can close it.
Hasn't been a huge issue yet since we don't really use that door much (yet)

Fixed it!

Found out the wire that was connected to one of the sensors was barely making contact and was shorting out both of them. Patched it up for the time being and I'll solder the connections during my Spring cleaning.

Since I was in the mood too, I greased all the roller shafts and reduced a ton of the creaking when the door lowers or raises.

Awesome, I'll have to check my connections next time I get a chance down there ...

What did you use for the roller shafts?

I saw the same thing too that's why I can't just throw keys away regardless if I can use them or not. I do however reuse the stand-alone FOB's and with the push button Ford's you can reprogram the proximity key.

Good call. Are those keys people left and had to pay to replace or keys that got lost in the shuffle?

Those flip keys remind me that I need to order one for the Mustang.

I dig the lamp shade a lot.
