Inspection with tune?

Anyone know if it is necessary to "turn off" your tune for state inspection. I wouldnt think it would matter and I am not even sure they check computer stuff during inspection, but thought I would ask. It is not the stealership that is doing inspection either.

All I have is intake and tune, and I do not need emissions tested. I should be ok I think. Thanks for the help.

If it were me, I would just go back to stock then and avoid any potential hassles.

You should be fine. But with as little as you have done it would be easy enough to take it back to stock. Just make sure you do a drive cycle or put some miles on it before you go for the inspection or you will get a P1000 code

Luckily I live in a county that does not have emissions! But you should be okay with what you have done to the car. Even if you don't pass with the tune, just take it off and drive around before you get it inspected as Doc said.

Here in the People's Republic of Maryland they do an OBD II test...so I return back to stock and put some drive cycles on it as Hawg said and no problems.

They do OBD II here in Texas as well. Mine passes every year. Just like everything else with these cars, it's all in the tune

Just thought I would share. Had it inspected this morning. I did not return anything to stock. No problems what so ever.

what state are you in? if youre in PA it only looks for codes when they hook up to the ODBII port. No codes, no problem.

If you have a custom tune, you can usually leave it as-is unless the rear o2 sensors are turned off, and that's only in places that do OBDII testing. It's not just a matter of codes, it's a matter of what "monitor tests' are "not ready"; typically you can only have 1 or 2 not readys, and if you have more, you will fail (IF they do the OBDII test). Turning off rear cats results in 3 not readys (as I found out the hard way one time!).

If they just do visual, you can run your setup as-is.

If you can run your stock tune with your cai (or with an appropriate insert), then that would be the safest way to go, if you are uncertain.

Most of us with custom tunes use them and pass inspection with them, even in OBDII testing areas.

Ok.. so normally I try to overlook things. But since you threw this out there like you knew what you were saying, I gotta ask... How the fuck are they going to look for codes withOUT plugging in to the OBD II port?

oh, and just to make sure you understand. The "it" refers to the computer which houses the cable that "plugs" into the OBD II port.
