08 Gt bent shifter or shift fork?

I was at the track tonight making a few passes. I hotlapped the car a few times and on the last pass I came off the line hard. When I went to shift into 2nd, it grinded. Which in itself is nothing new. I'm still running the stock clutch and it's getting pretty weak. If the clutch pedal isn't fully engaged and to the floor, it will cause me to grind.

So after grinding 2nd, I went to go to 3rd. When I let off the clutch it banged rev limiter a few times like the gear wasn't engaged. So I went to 4th, which took, and eased the rest of the way down the track.

At first I suspected that the clutch had taken a giant shit and grenaded lol. But, after driving it around, the clutch feels just like it always has. No slipping at all that I can tell. It is weak however, as you can feel it on normal take off.

Now, my question is, could I have bent or damaged a shifter component? Like I said, 2nd gear at a high rpm has always been a bitch in that car.
It's just odd to me that all that shit could happen, yet the clutch feels normal and I couldn't smell it burning.

I'll also note that the shifter feels very notchy after the incident. It doesn't feel normal at all.

I'm at a loss guys.

Check your shifter mounting bolts (underneath the car) and check the bushing. Maybe the bushing collapsed or broke. Hopefully is that or it might be the clutch took a dump and you wont have smooth gear engagement. Hopefully you find the culprit.

you can check the clutch by having the car in 5th gear and going WOT from a lower speed, if the RPM just climbs - there is your answer.

as to the fork, yes it's possible, I did it in my 06 when 4th would not engage. However, if the trans will go into all gears smoothly and stay without issue, the fork is likely not the issue IMO.

Thanks for the info guys. Are Spec clutches any good? I track the car quite a bit and want something that'll hold up.

The bushing on that longest shaft on the shifter is shot to Hell and back. Moves side to side at least a 1/4 inch.

Clutch still needs to be replaced but I guarantee that was a major contributing factor.

Anybody got a shifter for sale? Lol

stock clutch, stock motor mounts (no torque limiters), stock shifter assembly with prothane shifter bushings. no high rpm shift issues here...

That's what I have with a Spec 3+ and believe me it won't cure high rpm shifting issues.

U need prothane mounts or CHE k member brace with torque limiters to fix that. Long known solution.

So, upon further inspection, my car only has one damn bushing on the long end of the shifter arm. Supposed to have 2 bushings and 2 of the metal sleeves correct?

My shit only has one lol. I have no idea why or how or who would even put something back together like that.

And you can't find those metal sleeves individually. The closest I've found is from a company called AMP Distributing on eBay and Amazon.

They're all bronze. Its a 5 piece set and costs 60 bucks. So that in itself was about 90% of my problem. Would y'all agree?

Ordered those sleeves. Can't decide if I want to keep my order for the Hurst or cancel it and just buy new bushings. I'm looking at $80 versus $340. I could use that money to go toward a new clutch, limiters and motor mounts.

This drag racing business is getting expensive lol

Try the '13 GT500 Master Cylinder for your high rpm grinding issues. Since I installed it, I don't grind anymore (unless I actually miss a gear).

Thanks for the info. I just hope I haven't damaged something internally since realistically the shifter has been allowed to move out of position and engage gears at the wrong angle for God knows how long.
