Well I ended up using the BFH several times.

After a few hiccups the motor slip right out. It really wasn't a big deal at all. I had the car jacked up by the k-member, and had another jack under the tranny to support it. There were some wire harness issues due to them still being connected to the oil pan near the AC compressor. I left the motor mounts in place and simply lifted the motor and tranny until the motor cleared. The O2 sensor was not coming out so I had to order another one. didn't even bother removing the harness yet.

Now I removed the valve covers and timing chain cover to swap them over to the aluminator. Tomorrow morning I will button up the stock motor and get it in the marketplace, and get the aluminator ready to drop in.

Today I turned the corner and started going back together with some things. I got both motors totally buttoned up. Here's a pic of all the go fast stuff in one place.

Does anybody know if I will be able to drop this whole motor with the long tubes? It looks like I can if I remove the motor mounts but my eyes could be deceiving me. If nobody knows I will take one for the team and try it.

I think you probably will be able to. The variable would be the steering shaft.

I had to drop the steering rack and disconnect the shaft with mid length longtubes mounted on the motor but I was doing this to a 2008 with a 3v motor. Not sure how the epas is setup in relation to the steering shaft.

Steering shaft seems pretty much out of the way, as shown. It will be nice if I don't have to bolt them up in the car for sure.

I have run into a snag tonight. I went to install the spec clutch on my brand new stock flywheel, but the dowels are too large for the clutch. Granted I am not experienced with clutches but I have read others using this clutch with a stock flywheel. Any ideas?

I'd be inclined to use a drill on the pressure plate housing if I had the right size bit. The dowels are only there to help with installation.

Are you sure they are too big? They usually are snug and take a hammer to drift them home.

I have also installed clutches without the dowels before. I just spent 32 hours making sure I was as close to centered as I could.

Its not just to aid instillation...they center the PP on the flywheel...so I thought

Unfortunately they are for sure. I briefly tried to pull the clutch down on the flywheel but all it was gonna do was warp the assembly.

I am going to drill then out just a tad.

sorry, I read wrong. I thought they were too big for the flywheel. you are saying they are too big for the PP to clear them?

Yes exactly sorry for the confusion. Stock ford dowel pins too large for the pressure plate.

Smart move, warping leads to unbalancing which leads to all kinds of bad things motor wise.

Yeah I like my motor not cratered haha! Thanks again for the advice gentlemen.

Sometimes I wonder about things like how many oil pump gears have been shattered because of a poorly balanced aftermarket component like a flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, crankshaft, or underdrive balancer. Or for that matter just a bad machine shop rotating assembly balance job. It's one of those things that just doesn't really happen (or isn't reported) with stock motors.

Anyhow, on to your build.

Tonight went ok. I got the motor ready and made my first attempt to drop it in. I ran into a snafu with the braided clutch line. The little metal clip apparently vaporized when I removed it. Searched high and low. Where can I find these and whats the part number?

EDIT: Found it: http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77308

I ended up dropping the k-member. There was just not enough room to get in there with the motor.

Once I dropped it a good bit I was easily able to drop in the motor and mate it to the trasmission. It's not flush yet with the motor but I got a few bolts in it and I think it's good to go. I threw in the towel from being too full from all the thanksgiving feasting.

I got the motor in today completely. Got the k-member back in as well. I discovered there are a few things I didn't take good enough pics of hopeing you can help me out.

Where do these go? I found one sensor on the back of the passenger side head but no idea where the other side goes.

Superfluous shotof the SW long tubes from the back. I did not have to use any kind of extentsion on these.
