Ice tank?

:sparta: Spec R doesn't need no stinking ice!

I didn't want the intercooler tank under the hood. Being a MN boy, pure water in any coolant system makes me queasy! If I did run just water, I could ice it.

I ordered a couple flip key/switchblade style keys/remotes off of amazon. They're the VW style, but supposedly made to work with Fords. I only have 1 key to my car, so hopefully it isn't too much of a fiasco to get these programmed.

I have a trusted locksmith, so fingers crossed, they can get these keys cut and talking to my car without too much trouble or necessitating a trip to the stealership.

If you only have one key I believe you'll have to go to the dealership, and they may not try to program the switchblade key. I've HEARD that some locksmiths have the correct tool to program it, but I can't confirm that. Everyone "knows a guy," but they never actually do it. I have a switchblade key, but it no longer communicates as a remote even after a fresh battery. Still unlocks and starts the car, just no remote. $10 from China and I have 3 keys now, so no big loss.

I haven't checked the Mustang yet but all the Fords I've owned in the past were able to program keys through the ignition. Provided you had the two original keys it only involved following a procedure from the owners manual.

That's what I've heard too. If it starts the car, a simple key-in-ignition sequence should connect the remote to the car. Of course, that sort of thing is always nice in theory. My doors still auto lock after parking even though I've tried to program that out. Also, my windows roll up after shutting the car off no matter what. I hate that and can't find how to tune that out.

For the key, I'm hoping that the worst case scenario is that the dealership has to cut and connect a second regular key and the locksmith can do the rest with the switchblade keys.

Yes, the dealership will need to be involved if you only have 1 working key.
If you had 2 working keys, as mentioned above, you could use those 2 to program any additional keys by cycling them in the ignition first in a certain way, then doing the same with the 3rd/additional key.

There ARE places out there that might be able to just add your switchblade key without involving a dealership first.

When I was in the business I once used a local company (AAA keys or something like that, based around Boston) that came out in his van and just cut one key for a car towed in with no keys. This is something that a dealership would've had to cut 2 keys for.

Go to Home Depot or your local equivalent and get a new key made and they will program that new key for you. It cost likes $45 to do so.

Now you can program the new switchblade key your self and also have a new spare key.

Installed a BMR rear sway and endlinks a couple weeks ago. Changed my spark plugs today. It took more time to clear the dirt with compressed air than change the plugs. I'm glad I've got the revised heads.
