I'll presume you mean the spare tire rim, its been tried, the concern I'd have is that the tires on them are only rated for 50mph or so, if you swapped on a better set of tires IMO you'll be fine.

I've heard that some tracks wont let you run with them, even with a better tire. Plus those spare rims are heavy as hell...

the spare rims arent that heavy...although i haven't weighed them, they're no where near what my stockers weigh.

i've been debating doing this. i've looked at buying either a 205/50/17 or 215/55/17 tire...iirc....you can pick them up used on ebay fairly inexpensively. most of them have a w speed rating, which is more than good enough. the only thing holding me back is i just don't want the car to look ghetto....if you know what i mean

i even purchased the spare rim already. the spare rim is 5 inches wide, fwiw. i had it measured with a set of calilpers at discount tire.

imo i dont care if it looks ghetto its saving me from buying welds or some kind of front runners...so that being said im going to purchase another stock spare rims and W rated tires thanks...

so i guess the next question is they let you pass tech at the track with that tire and wheel combo?

i'd hate to spend $300 on skinnies and have them toss me out the gate

for another $160 or so summit or jet stars are available without issue....i'm kinda torn

I know a guy who ran the spares with M&H skinnies at private rentals and tnt's a few years back. If you are worried about tech, Summit has the 15x4's on sale for 80 bucks. That and a 15 dollar spacer and you are in business.

i'm kinda kickin around several things....lt's, skinnies, or maybe a bmr k member...trying to put the money where it'll have the most effect...without going fi...too many motors going kaboom

i had thought about going from the 4.33's to 4.56's...but after last week's highway driving, i think 4.33's are about the limit for me
