I wish we had better alternatives. I went through a rebuilt from autozone before I bought the PA.
What about a 2010 alternator? A lot of people seem to have good luck with them.

Oh yeah? I hadn't heard that they were interchangeable. What changes did they make with them?
Let me tell you about PA Performance Alternators.
They break on a regular basis. They would last about a year for me.
So I had 2 identical PA Performance alternators.
When it self destructed, I swapped it with the other one and sent back the broken one to be fixed/replaced. About a year later, the process repeats.
I must say their alternators just suck. They must use crap parts or have shitty quality control.
I don't normally say bad things about a product or company but I feel compelled to here.
Made in PROC. Enough said.
Yes, they are made in china. AutoXracer went through hell with the PA alternator'S in his roush..including their 200A version.
Just use the Ford (denso) 2010 alternator. They are a direct drop in for the 05-09 cars. They are 135A, 3 phase types....then end of problem. Then your output vdc will remain constant...from idle to wot. The 05-09 single phase types went the way of the do-do bird. No car maker is using single phase alternator's. Ford was the last to use em. No jap or EU car has used a single phase alternator in a million years.
Well that's bullshit. They make it sound like they are hand built by a small team in PA.
2005 to 2009 all had issues with resistor and transistor. Pcm and SJB did not like the spikes or variable voltage. if not between 13.8 ~ 14.8 the car would run like shit.
