FWIW, I have a bracket from Craig's Custom brackets and it is well designed and well made (mho).

The Stow 'n Go option is good too but it doesn't work very well if there's a splitter involved, lol.

And for what it's worth, the law requires a front plate here and I haven't had one for the last 15 years. Never been stopped for it.

Yeah? Try doing that in MD. I used to get pulled over at least once a month. Finally got so sick of it that I put the damn plate on.

That sucks man. I'm very fortunate that it's not really a big deal in Texas even though it's law. Then again, two of the three neighboring states don't require front plates, so maybe that's a factor.

OK other questions I have a manual trans, and have noticed a clinging sound when shifting gears, do not think its a clutch clatter, thinking it may be bushings from shifter. Is this a common problem with this model? any thoughts would be appreciated.

also my car has a heck of a lot of miles 183xxx miles to be more exact, and I'm not due for a oil change, but there is a window sticker that says the last oil used was 5-20w, wouldn't that weight oil be to thin?

and I have been doing some research trying to help my son with his 2002 mustang v6. when I drive it, the suspension feels to loose, when parked I with little pressure am able to sway the rear of the vehicle back and forth. when I try this on my car, it does not sway at all. Read somewhere about something called a panhard. looks to be something like a lateral link from chassis to rear diff. what do you guys think this may be? my younger brother has similar model only v8 and vehicle does not sway.

No problem! Hm. The lateral movement could be reduced with a pan hard bar or maybe some LCAs? I have like a B- in Suspension. Lol.

As for the oil, 5w20 is what's factory recommended for that generation and is advised especially if the car will see cold weather.

And the trans does sound like it could be a bushing. I can't recall if there's a plate between the rear main and the trans. My MT82 has a clank every now and then and I'm almost positive it's a TSB on that.

Your son's suspension bushings are shot. Also, the SN-95 (your son's chassis) is a 4-link rear suspension and does not have a panhard rod.

so in redoing my sons suspension, the suspension bushings I mean, I know he is going to want the most economical what and from where would you guys recommend?

For a pre-'05 car? Go with stock suspension bushings. Otherwise, the binding inherent in the rear suspension will crack the torque boxes. On those cars, it's "all or nothing."

Screw Virginia cops and your entire state government. Want to know why VA is so hard on "speeding"? Because it's unsafe and causes accidents? Nope; otherwise VA would be safer than any other state, and it's not.

It's because one of your former state legislators was a former traffic attorney who wanted to make business for all of his fellow traffic attorney buddies. So he made the state have a "zero tolerance" policy on speeding and outlawed radar detectors, even though the latter is a clear violation of a Federal law.

No, absolutely not. Spend to much time going hard around corners and you'll snap the torque boxes off the frame with those. You need STOCK OEM bushings back there, unless you're planning on replacing the whole thing with a Steeda 5-link or similar.

Those are still Polyurethane bushings and as per above. Will apparently tear up something if you don't go balls deep strengthening parts.
