sct updater windows 10

not sure if this is the right spot.

i recently updated to winows 10, and got an sct 4.... i cannot for the love of god get their software to work on my windows 10 computer.

it has issues installing the drivers. i tried manually installing updated drivers i got off bamas website as it was the only place i could find them. and it still crashes everytime in try to update the software ect.

anyone else get past this?

I had the same issue with Win 8.1

Had to call SCT and the remotes in and installed correct drivers.

... not going to have them access my pc. definitely not comfortable with that. not to mention i have that disabled.

do you remember what they did or how by chance?

They used Team Viewer to download the drivers and install them.

eh i just use my pc and have sensitive information on it and having that enabled creates a door for people to get in.

it also shouldn't benecessary if they'd fucking develop the software properly installed of their typical shit. i had a hell of a time getting livegen or what ever to work with my sct on multiple computers


i assume their support is normal business hours

the drivers i got off bamas dont work they are "corrpupted or muissing files" according to windows.

Their support is pretty much one guy who answers the phone when he's not on break, in the bathroom or out back smoking a cigarette. I fucking hate SCT and refuse to deal with them directly any more. If I have any issues I just take my handheld over to VMP and let Justin or BJ deal with them.

I didn't have issues on mine with the iTSX and Windows 10 laptop, however, mine was on recent firmware too. I think someone recently had a thread up about getting their firmware installed, and mentioned two modes to hooking up the x3's and x4's to the PC. One of them actually installed the drivers properly.

Probably helps to have .NET 4.5+ on there too, if you don't have it already. IIRC I had to install that for it to work correctly on Windows 8.

I have it installed on Windows 8.1 with no issue. I keep a spare small laptop with Win 8.1 and all software on it that I need. I cant get it to install on 10 as well using the latest drivers. I found a nice used Dell Latitude 4300 series laptop online for $250 , put in a spare 256GB SSD I have and boom - car laptop.

Hey guys quick question, when you buy an X4 new, does it have to connected to a computer and updated before you can install the tune to the car?

You can connect to your wireless and let it download and install the 300 plus updates like mine did before I put a tune on the car. or you can connect it to a computer and update it that way.

But you should update the firmware on the device before applying anything to your car.

SCT needs to scratch build software for win 10. Seems like they should be making major dollars, their POS software is unforgivable.

Have you tried running it as an Admin and/or in compatibility mode?

I tried it both ways on Windows 10 for me and it would not update or install the driver for the tuner so it always had the ! next to it in Device Manager.

I originally had trouble with windows 10. It has been a few months so I don't recall exactly what I did but I believe I had to use Device Manager and install the drivers manually (right click on device, update driver, you browse to the driver folder). I'll need to look later on that computer to see if that is what I did.

I think I needed to do this twice for some reason. Once for the driver update initially and another when the device itself was updated.

ok so i broke down and had them access my pc with the team viewer, well i now have another problem i go to select a tune and when i do nothing happens it does not add it to available tunes? i tried with both of my computers. i ended up spoofing sp3 on my windows xp sp2 pc to download the netframwork. but it does the same thing on my windows 10 pc as well. i';ve tried searching and the sct website but nothing has the info i need.

would they not load up if they were programmed for another tuner, i tried for shits and giggles adding my old tunes which my tuners did for my sct 2. is that the issue then?

I need help with a similar thing. Lito is tuning my car we installed all of the drivers, but when we try to open the sct updater it doesn't open at all. Anyone had that problem? I'm on windows 10 also.
