I think the P.O. had a gnarly pinky ring.

Help me find a replacement?

I can't find a decently priced oem replacement.

The aftermarket has me worried. Here is one from AM that I like, but it looks like the boot on the Bullitt is a smaller diameter than the other mustangs.
The AM knob pestle looks like its big around as the knob. Mine is much smaller see?

Here is the Bullitt in question.

Thanks, this is the best mustang forum.

You can change the knob without changing the boot collar. I have never worn jewelry but my original Bullitt shift knob looked like shit in less than 30K miles.

What Wes is so eloquently trying to say is that we on this forum do not consider most trivial discussions such as this 'tech'. A moderator will be along shortly to move the thread to 'chit chat'. Also, you will most likely be the recipient of some hazing from other forum members for your mistake. Take it in stride and please respect our rule for keeping the tech forums restricted to actual technical discussions.

Thanks,
Any suggestion on separating the two? If it is as easy as a rag and vice grips I would surprised.

Bring on the hazing. :helpme:

Use something better than a rag. I used an old leather belt wrapped around the ball before using the vise grips. I don't remember if there's flat spots for a wrench on the base or not. Pull up the boot trim and have a look underneath. The trim is glued to the boot but it just snaps into the console.

I used a leather belt along with some water pump pliers and a lot of muscle on my Boss shift knob.

What happened to the old skwerl, I think the bullitt contents got him sentimental?

Sent you a pm. Also, when I removed mthe stock bullitt ball, I used an oil filter rubber strap wrench.

If the stock piece comes apart, I couldn't figure out how. What you're looking for is a Silver Horse boot retainer like this. http://www.cjponyparts.com/silverho...ainer-tube-style-billet-2005-2014/p/HW3056-V/
The large one you posted in the link will not work.

Awesome, that is perfect. If it comes down to it, I now have a good option in case my separation job doesn't work out.

I used a leather belt along with some water pump pliers and a lot of muscle on my Boss shift knob.

Thank you for the tip. I will give a try so I can save the boot retainer and avoid buying one.

Pulled down the boot trim and there are no flats for a wrench, but, there is enough material there to grind my own spots. They would be hidden too. Thanks for the good idea.
