Ive been working with Lito to get a custom tune done after my long tube install and we noticed one bank is 12-15 degrees off compared to the other bank at any given point in the rpm range.

Has anyone ever experienced this? I am planning to take the valve covers off to check for anything obvious but not even sure what/how to check.

Car has 74k miles.

A visual will likely not yield any results. It sounds like a phaser and/or VCT solenoid is taking a dump. I monitor my "right bank" and "actual cam angle" on my TS all the time. They are never far from a few points of each other at any given time. While driving they are usually steady within a few decimals of each other.

Unless I'm wrong, a timing kit is in order for you. The FRPP timing kit used to come with everything you needed to completely overhaul the timing components, and was cheap. Not sure about it these days. I recommend contacting Steve@Tasca on the forum.

It's possible you may have a different issue, but if the tune is commanding cam angle and one cam is F'd off, it's most likely a hardware issue. I don't feel it's a timing issue, or you'd have other symptoms, and VCT doesn't care if you're off a tooth, it's still going to retard the cams by however many degrees it should.

That's interresting as i'm working with LITO right now as well. He said he saw something strange on my datalogs with cams too. I have to go log an additional pid at WOT. Cam Source. It that pid is aways at 99 i have some issue with my cams. Not sure what the issue could be as he didn't say. What are the odds?

Thank you 702GT for the insight. I will be reaching out to steve@tasca to price the components out.
