It wasn't how the dip was laid. It's that dip on wheels degrades so fast. I'm actually astonished that the dealership that my car ended up at cleaned the wheels up. That had to be like 3-4 shop hours, per wheel, minimum.

I think I averaged about an hour per wheel on the de-dip/clean up, and that's not counting the time I spent peeling the dip off the face of the wheels a while back.

I tried dip dissolver, wd40, chrome wheel cleaner (read up on leaving that shit on painted wheels for too long), acetone and NONE of it could get all the way down to the wheel. Ended up just laying down like 5-6 more layers of a dark grey to cover them up.

Not once you shoot hot brake dust into the dip from multiple hard stops, and then don't wash them. And then do it a few more times. Dip is not great on wheels, anybody who tells you it is hasn't daily driven theirs in real world conditions.

I used Goo Gone to get some of the spots that I just couldn't peel. It did OK, but I had to use a good bit of elbow grease, and I ruined a couple of microfiber towels in the process.

I have used Acrysol years ago. I didn't know it was still available.

I've used Goo Gone and a small, electric power washer to de-plastidip wheels on more than one occasion.

Apply, let sit for about 15 minutes, and it blasts right off. Takes me less than an hour for a set of 4.

Well heck, I wish I had known that a week ago! LOL Good info to know for the future.

EDIT: Where you been Rasmus? And are you really 71? I always thought you were a young guy for some reason.

I bought a couple of Corvettes, Mustang broke down again, got busy with work, the usual.

Maybe I'm 71, maybe I'm not. I like how it's a plausible age to some.

I would think Fogle's dating pool has very strict age requirements -- more of a paddling pool.

I want to make a kiddie pool joke, but it just comes out like a horrible dad pun. So I want to take this time, not to be amusing, but to ruin the chances of somebody making a dad pun.
