Anyone In The Northern FL Area Want To Help Out A 2011 Black 5.0? :D

I bought this car and it was dark when I did, and was 'impressed' with how the black paint looked. Then daylight came haha! I said I'd never buy a black car again because of swirls etc but here I am.

I was just wondering if someone could help me out with their buffer and knowledge, and show me the ropes in person on how to tackle this if I brought the polish, pads and sealant?

I've never buffed anything before. Here's the car as it sits. Far away it looks good! Then you put light to it and see how bad it really is.

I live on Eglin Air Force Base currently (close to the Destin area). Just got stationed here and will be moving to Crestview soon, but I can travel anywhere around the local area. I'll be off the entire week of new years so my schedule will be flexible

Completely missed that! Lol I was so tired last night from Christmas event festivities for my son. You’re in a great area though. I was stationed in Pensacola for a bit and loved every minute of it. I’m all the way in jax so too far to be any help.

I'm looking on auto geek and seeing the portercable 7424xp which I've seen a lot of hype about, and also some Griot's buffers and pad combos which I've also heard about but idk which buffer model is good from Griot's. The griot packages are a little less money.
Since I've never used one before I just don't want to buy the wrong one and regret my choice

May just go with the 7424 eventually since that ones talked about so much. Would be awesome to get to check one out in person first! Maybe I'll get lucky after the holidays when people start checking back in on here and someone with some experience will be local to me!

I wish I knew man. There are a lot of good detail dudes around jax and I was going to point you in that direction. One of these days I’m going to buy a buffer and some pads and chemicals and figure out how to do everything myself.

Well with 5 hours left for the sale on auto geek, and how much the PC 7424 was praised both on here and other forums, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. Comes with 2 microfiber towels, 3 pads, the buffer, the backing plate, and a couple samples of some polish.

Hope I made the right choice! I'll still need to pick up a clay bar, detail spray, and some car wash and a mitt of some sort, but I can get those locally when the time comes.

I’m north of Tampa if you want to cruise down. It’s about a 4 hour drive. I have the chemicals, but I’d recommend getting 5.5 micro fiber pads (2-4) for stage 1, and 2-4 white pads for stage 2. You’ll want the 5.5 backing plate also. It’s a must for a PC. My car has kamikaze myabi-ISM-Overcoat on it now (for reference). My SIL is in the USAF so glad to help you out. If it’s to far, send pm or contact info and I’ll get you the how to details.

I have the Porter Cable and love it. I have a few different pads to go with it. It's a nice set up.

The buffer does come with a 5" backing plate with 5.5" pads. Is that right or what does the extra half inch on the backing plate do?
