How much can I expect to pay a reputable shop to install rods/pistons on a gen 1 coyote?

No, would be using the block in the car. I understand the job is more than pistons and rods. Just trying to get a ball park of what I’m looking at. I plan on having his done by the end of the year.

Call L&M - they are about a 40 min drive from you. I'd guess you'd be looking at 1500-2000, for machining and balancing and installation.

Will do. They aren’t far away. And that’s actually cheaper than I’ve been thinking. Ill report back what they say.

They told me to check out the short blocks they offer on their website.

By looking at the website, it sounds like they will work on an engine that was pulled.

oh you wanted the shop to pull the motor? that wasn't clear from your post, I know L&M doesn't R&R, only engine builds, your posts talks about rods/piston install, says nothing about pulling the motor and tearing it down.

Sorry, yes, I need the shop to basically do the whole install.

it may make sense then to buy a built short block and have a shop swap it over, either sell the OEM short block or keep it as a spare.

No issues at all yet. I’m pushing a lot of power to the wheels and would like to reinforce the bottom end before something bad happens.

So buy a short block like the Aluminator?

JG - I think so, you can custom order your CR, the pistons are better IMO, probably better rings and bearings as well. the L&M engine is also blueprinted


Keep in mind if you go to a Aluminator at 9.5CR you'll see a drop in HP all things being equal.

as to the price... maybe a cash discount could be had and you could pick it up to save costs if you have a pick up.

I would always go with a ford racing engine over a uh... brenspeed, etc...

less bolt turning down the road.

Last I checked the 6 percent discount didn't apply to engines.

Also, i think a factory short block with no issues should be good for about $1000-$1500
