Hello everyone,
I am looking to sell my 2006 Mustang GT in the next year and pick up a 2011-13 GT to replace it. I have been researching to see what all I currently have which will transfer from my GT to the new one and I am having trouble confirming if the wheels will fit.

Race Star Drag Stars - 15x3.75; 15x8
I also have some 17x9 bullitt style wheels with MT ET Streets and am curious if they will fit as well.

Can someone confirm that I read correctly that my shocks, struts, springs, and panhard rod will all fit on the 2011-13? Tokico D-Specs, BMR strings and panhard rod. I don't believe much else will transfer.

The struts changed 11 and up, they need a different upper strut mount. You can go to the manufacturers website and check part numbers for both years. If they match, you're good to go

Good call! I have the Maximum Motorsport C&C plates which won't transfer over so I would either have to use stock mounts or change them out when I install the struts.

Not to talk you out of it but dont limit youself to just the 11-14 gts. I originally wanted one but instead ended up buying a 17 gt and dont regret it. I love the looks of the 11-14 cars a lot but the power and creature comforts of my 17 gt are way ahead of the 11-14 cars.

Now if youre dead set on an 11-14 a lot of stuff will transfer because its the same platform as your 06. Like said above there are some little nuances to keep in mind though.

All of the rear suspension is the same from 05-14. The only thing that may
be different is the rear upper control arm for pinion angle on the 11-14
cars. If you have an adjustable one, then that won't make a difference.
The rear UCA bracket to body isn't the same, it has a different contour but
the bolt locations are still the same.

Front, not so much, except for 2010. The later models have different
spindles for the larger ball joint pin that slides into the spindle. 05-10 Struts
should work with 11-14 mounts/bearing caps. Should be the same end
links, and sway-bar hardware. Spring rates are different because of the
different weight motors, even if the 05-09 front struts would swap right in
to the 11-14.

The centric hubs are the same diameter for 05-14 rims, and same bolt pattern.
Lug thread size changed in 2015+, and the centric hub diameter changed slightly.

Brake hardware will be the same, depending on model of the 11-14.

The interior and body saw the most changes and updates.

The main reason I am looking at an 11-13 is due to price. I want something with a better foundation to build on for drag racing and I can either go conservative on a boosted setup on my 06 GT (stock 3v and 5R55S) and wait for the motor and/or trans to go, build it up first spending more than the difference of me selling my car and buying an 11-13, or just buy into a better motor/trans platform without the need for a motor swap. I love the S550s but for what I am aiming for, I can't justify the extra money.

Whats your budget? Youd be surprised by the price of the s550’s. I bought mine for about 30k and have sub 400 dollar monthly payments with a warrenty and wheel and tire warrenty.

I'm hoping to keep car cost to under $16k when I end up buying next year. I am just doing some planning and due diligence now to make sure I am 100% settled on this decision. Also have to decide if I want to see my GT as-is or return some of it to stock. The only thing I really need to do before I sell it is a gear swap as the 4.10s are making more noise than most will tolerate.

Oh I gotcha. Are you looking to buy one from a private seller? When I was looking for an 11-14 I looked pretty much exclusively at dealers and the price difference for s197s and s550s was only a couple thousand dollars. I do really like the front end of the 11-12 gt, more than my 17 gt lol but its cool. Right now with the prices of s197s falling your bang for your buck factor is really high.

What all do you have done to your car? It might not even be worth it to remove any mods unless you have the oem part and can use it on your next car.

The falling costs of the gen1 5.0s is what has led me to my decision point.

Current mods:
Corsa axle backs, UDP, BMR (Swaybar del, LCA, adj. UCA, adj. PH bar, springs, A Arms), D-Spec, C&L Street CAI, 4.10s, Race Star wheels, Offroad H, Spydershaft, Circle D 3600 stall, and Bama tune.
Best ET: 12.306 @ 107.15 - 60': 1.68 in 96 degree heat (hoping for bottom 12s this fall/winter).
300.1 RWHP/317.9 RWTQ

At this point, if I want to make dramatic strides for going faster, I either need to tear into the motor or go FI. The 5R55S and rods are serious weak points so I'd have to go low boost on safe tune and even then, it's a crap shoot.

I have all the OEM parts so I will likely hold on to the BMR swaybar delete, LCAs, PB, Tokico D-Specs (will need new strut mounts), and rear Racestar wheels/tires. I will also remove the Circle D TC and sell it as it's a really nice triple disc unit.

The strut mounts and struts from your 2006 will fit. You cant mix 05-09 struts and 10-14 mounts or vice versa.

Plus, if you take some time and look, you can find a 11-14 GT for $13K-$16K. I can
buy a '13 GT for $15k, just not in the market for one right now.

I would not take on the task of a Coyote swap for what it would cost... I would
rather pay that to be Ulrea Rare, and get a BARRA 195 I6 engine, or at least the
240T if it would work... Every Barra "T" engine has more power than the 4.6
motor anyway. I know, not a Coyote... Still, RARE -vs- what everyone else
has...
