Chrome wheels

Three out of the four chrome bullitt wheels from AM are pitted and leaking around the bead after 3 years, with very limited exposure to winter weather. Can anybody recommend a brand of chrome bullitt wheels that are resistance to rusting? I run staggered sizes 18x9, 18 x10.

I have the 20" chrome Roush wheels on my 2010 with 57,000 miles and never a problem with several sets of tires. Also have a set of 18x10 Roush with 305/45/18 MT ET Streets for rear and no problem with those either. They are usually cheaper thru 3rd party than directly thru Roush. I bought my 18's from Summit Racing.

i have a set of factory 18x8.5 polished w/tri bar running pony centercaps I'd part with (excellent condition) Ford used to make these in chrome also, i searched the net and couldn't find any to link to you.

I can suggest a set of used chrome Bullitts from a GT/CS like the ones I have.

He is talking about the stock 18x8.5" stock wheels that came on GT/CS and some other cars. My '09 came stock with them. I really like them.

I've read that the aftermarket wheel finishes for AM and LMR are not great and don't last as well. At the price point I would expect nothing less (more?). If you pay for higher quality, you will get longer life. The best option to maintain that look is probably American Racing. Backspace will probably be an issue.

Yeah, I did a quick search and found it’s cheaper to buy new. Unless you have like a custom Foose wheel.

Can you justify buying the cheapest chrome wheels knowing they will need replacement in 3-4 years. OE Concepts for example.

$760 bucks. 4 seasons = $190/year to have the look that you want before replacement.


Not to sound like a dick (but I probably will, sorry in advance), but if you buy the cheapest chrome wheels you gotta expect the cheapest quality.

Aluminum wheels and chrome are a problem waiting to happen. I had chrome wheels I love but after some time the chrome began to fall of where the s[pokes met the rim. It seems the problem is aluminum is subject to a different rate of expansion and contraction than chrome which is brittle and so over time problems. Top pict is the chrome bottom is at present.
