Traction Control + Engine Failsafe?

It’s slick out here in Mid-MO...

Driving on the highway, it seemed like I hit some slick spots & felt traction control engage- similar to when I’ve hit water & lost traction, then immediately got it back. After some time, I get the pop-up “Engine Failsafe Mode”, & all gages are fine, but I couldn’t go above 45 mph & it would still shift, but maybe only in the lower gears?

Any info on this & things to check out? Thanks!

did it stay in fail safe after you shut and restarted the car?

if the CEL is on, check for codes and report them back

No codes, & Failsafe appears to be off... just really unsure of how traction control works with the Failsafe mode, and was worried there may be trans or rear-end damage...

My 2005 GT goes into fail safe about twice a week. I pull into a safe spot, restart, and it's fine, but it is a pain. We think we narrowed it down to the throttle position sensor on the side of the throttle body. We were able to disconnect the harness while having an OBD tester plugged in and watch the problem fix itself after reconnect. I'm sure it could be many things but this is something to look into at least. Joel

I was randomly going through threads and your comment caught my attention. Without seeing your car, I can almost guarantee you it's the tps sensor. Ford had issues with these sensors all the way to I believe 2015. They went through four revisions of that sensor, with the latest being an all square style sensor. The older ones have a square side and an oval or egg shape side on the opposite end. The newer ones are much better. There is a way to test this but you need either a way to datalog with a laptop, or a meter. If you want this info I can tell you. When my tps went bad, I just replaced the entire TB and went with a bigger one from ford racing that came with the updated tps pre installed so there’s no need to mess with the voltage screw.
