Morning all,
As I see the rising fuel prices, a question arises...... can the 4.0 v6 in my 06 convertible drink the E-88 or E15? I'm pretty sure Flex-fuel is out of the question but what about the others? Maybe a flex-fuel blend? 1/3-2/3?
25%-75%?
Thanks!

Fuel mileage goes down with more ethanol content. Just keep that in mind about fuel prices.

E-88 is flex fuel.. that means 88% ethanol... your car will not run on that blend.

Thanks for the information...... what about E-15? According to the pump, its only 15% ethanol.....

If you run E15 consistently, the ECU will adjust the fuel trims accordingly. The OE calibrators assume that most gasoline is between 5-10% ethanol and the ECU has an adjustment range that it can compensate for so it compensates in the same manner that it will for gasoline with 0% Ethanol.
As said before, you will see your mileage decrease.

That year is not certified to run E15. You can only run e10 or less legally. It may run fine on e15, but its not worth it.

E88 is only 15% ethanol, raising the octane to 88. NOT 88% ethanol. Most modern cars can use up to 15% ethanol.

I disagree, E85 is then what? 15% ethanol???? No, it's 85% ethanol in summer blend ( can be 70-85% depending on seasonal blend)

Keep in mind I've been running a E85 car for 11 years....

E15 is 15% ethanol. Here in Texas some of our stations sell E15 at the pump.

I suspect the OP misstated it . . . if he's referencing Sheetz and other like gas stations, they now offer "88" octane fuel that is also E-15. The 88 part is not a reference to ethanol content.

Correct, I was referring to Sheetz here in south central pa...... It is labeled as e88 - but it is in fact 15% ethanol......
Is this somthing that I can run with damage to the fuel system / engine?

If your car is not certified for 15% ethanol, you cannot run it legally.

It's clearly marked as "88" not E88

Ran three full tanks then I saw increased milage actually ran forscan to check against older data logs, overall yes slight increase in temp occasionally catch engine light for lean but it was highly intermittent and shut itself off , used sct tuner to adjust a few variables and with regular gas prices now thank goodness, I am cheap and was willing to blow up the motor since I built it and it's twin in the garage
