The pinion bearings are acting up. I'm pretty sure they moved because either the crush sleeve compressed or it didnt get torqued right. It started off making nose just when I pushed in the clutch and it's gotten progressively louder. No vibration yet or anything but I know I'm going to have to fix this at some point.

Which solid spacer should I use to replace the crush sleeve? Summit has this one but it doesn't include the shims

I think I can just replace the pinon bearings and I don't have to replace anything else.

Oh I got it, the Ratech 4105 is the kit with the shims that fit the 8.8 (although summit says it only fits the 7.5 and 9"). The Ratech 4104 listed in the link above is one that you can machine down.

If you're wiping out pinion bearings, whoever is setting up your rearend is doing it wrong. What's the history with the rearend until
this point?

And why are you waiting for it to get worse? Pull it apart now, replace the bearings and crush sleeve (by the book), check your gear pattern, and throw it back together. Any longer and you'll be replacing the ring/pinion as well along with all the other bearings.
