I'm looking for a set of or even better, the right tail light, from the S550 style Stang for the S197 gen. My car's right tail light has started malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Anyone have a set laying around, collecting dust, they'd like to off load?

Do you have the Raxium S550 style lights? These guys?

Yup, but not smoked.

I had a set on my S197, they have a flaw with an under current rated Diode that gets fried. I work in EE and found a better diode from DigiKey and fixed both of mine, and another set. Had to buy a reel of 50 diodes. If you wanna send me your broken one I'll fix it with fresh diodes.

Two load resistors got some heat but its the far right Zenor diode, near the Helen Keller solder job I saw when I first opened it up. Easy fix with the right parts.

That is very generous- Thank You!

Unfortunately, at the moment I do not have a back up set of tail lights so I'd be out of action as my Bullitt is my daily driver. Let me see if I can scrounge up a old pair of OE tail lights and I'll take you up on the offer.

Right now it looks like my only other alternative is to buy a new set and that's an expensive proposition. On American Muscle, a set of Raxion V2s are going for $450+. Ebay is selling a kit from some company called OEM Massive for $250- they look the same but no idea who they are/quality, etc.

Things worked out on my end and I've wrangled up a set of tail lights I can borrow. If your offer stands, let me know. PM me your mailing address (don't think I saved that last message) and I'll ship them out to you once removed.

And thank you!

Nothing like Raxiom quality. You probably paid more for the diode reel than AM paid for the lights.
:LMAO:

^^^ Why not post up the diode reference (1N####) number for the higher current rated diode? :)

LOL well that's the designation for an axial thru-hole diode. Do a little research on SMC and footprints. I haven't seen through-hole diodes used in a long time. These are 4 layer boards with 2 signal planes.

You also do not want to increase the current limit, rather increase the time the diode can sustain that current. Stock SurgeC appeared to be around 8ms, I upped to 30ms. Also PowerD from 1 to 3

DO-214AC package, SMA footprint. :)

I've got all the stuff to do it but the confidence in my electrical skills. I need detailed instructions including diagrams, which I haven't been able to find. I threw some Sylvania LED H13s in and am quite happy with the results for the few times that I drive at night.

Does SilverHorseRacing still have that PDF with the how-to and diagram? That’s what I used

Avery single word in the above referenced technical specs from Macman45 on the diodes, etc might as well be Martian speak to me. I'm glad you got it worked out. My only input was going to be that I had good luck with AM Raxiom tail lights 10 years ago on my 2009 Bullitt but it seems their reputation has crashed since then. Today I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

I saw the repaired lights in action today, as good as the day they were made, if not better!

The reason why this forum has lasted as long as it has (and, let's be honest, it's well beyond its usefulness, like so many Stang/motorcycle other forums I still belong to) is due to people like Rick, macman45. While other social media sites, like FB, can be effective, they'll never match sites like these, where members hang on for years, decades even, sharing info and helping each other out. Rick is one of those guys. Matter of fact, I sold Rick a pair of OE Bullitt mufflers a couple years so we had 'history.'

Out of the graciousness of his own heart, he reached out to me privately and offered to use his knowledge, technical expertise and skills to fix my tail lights. He didn't ask for anything other than to pay the shipping costs, which, of course, I did w/out hesitation.

I shipped him the lights and he returned them in under a week. He found a number of issues, fixed them all, and the lights work perfectly again. I've thanked him repeatedly in private fashion but let me do so in public fashion- THANK YOU, Ricky. You saved me a lot of $$ from buying a new set of lights.

Hats off to macman45!
