Hi guys,

First post so hopefully I’m posting in the right thread.

I bought an 09 GT that had a p2004 p2005 code for the CMCV stuck open. When I removed the intake manifold to fix it the actuator was obviously “broken” and stuck open. I changed the part for an actuator bought on Amazon. The moment I turned the key, the actuator broke in the open position. At first I thought the problem might be the quality of the part so I ordered another one on Rock auto. After installing that one, the actuator broke again but in the half opened position. I tried to fix it one last time by using an OEM actuator that I removed from a 2007 intake. That one broke in the closed position.

I made sure there was no carbon build up making the CMCVs stick. I also made sure there was nothing in the back of the intake that could block the arms. The only think I can think of is that I’m not “clocking” it right. There’s no check engine light right now for some reason although I’ve driven the car a few times. But visually I can see that the actuator does not move when I turn the key and the car does its system check nor does it move when revved at 3,500-4,000rpm. I do hear the actuator motor grinding so I don’t think it’s a fuse issue.

Unfortunately the 09-10 GT have a different intake manifold so I’m unable to use the plastic guides/lock that come with the actuator in order to make sure the arms are clocked properly.

I’m at the point where I’m thinking of getting the delete plates and a tuner from Steeda to fix the issue once and for all. But I’m already 800$ into this repair and I’d like to avoid spending another 1,500$ for the CMDP and tuner+custom tune.

Has anyone performed this repair successfully on an 09-10 ? Or does anyone known what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance!!

I thought the 09-10 had integrated plates in the intake manifold?
It does, that’s why the guide pins that come with the actuator repair kit don’t work.
If I do the delete plate I’d be using an 07 intake which I already bought on marketplace for dirt cheap

Ok then You can make your own delete plates with JB weld or high temp epoxy.

You will still need a tune.
