I might just do them all to be sure while i have it apart. this is what i noticed so far the roller looks like it has a worn mark on it.

That one doesn't look too bad but better to replace it as a prevention, especially for those that live outside the USA where cams seem to cost the earth to acquire.

What is the best ones to buy? I see ford performance and trick flow not sure which to get.
Some answers may be found in the Cams and Timing thread. I kind of took it over with details on doing my timing components and valvetrain.

Although I talk about the tool for rocker changes without taking out the cam, I have another thread talking about the tool specifically.

3V Rockerarm Tool OEM Brand | S197 Mustang Forum - S197Forum.com https://share.google/Cnw1FYYrdTYf7BP9p

Ford parts are recommended. I have no experience or knowledge on Trick Flow.

I've only seen the rockers sold either individually $15-20 each times 24.
Or as a set with the lash adjusters.
The lowest price I've found for the set is LMR at $449. The set is a better deal as you'll have the adjusters on hand for future installation.

The Melling MR 1851 looks identical, and I mean identical, based on the pics of the Melling parts. Stamping marks and everything. But, still not any lower in price really.

Beware of 'direct fit replacement'. Or OEM replacement. Both mean they are not OEM parts. Some ads will even have the Ford part number, but they are not Ford parts.

Yep. If you were trying to save money and fix this tick, I'd give you my old ones. High mileage, but all smooth bearings, no marring or scoring at all. Still have my old vct solenoids adjusters.
I didn't find any wear or defects on the parts I replaced except for the loose oil pump, a single crack in a chain guide, and a little chain stretch.

If you are willing ide take them off your hands, i feel like mine are "Good" but that noise has to be a roller idk what else it could be, it sounds like the roller itself is loose and has some uneven tension on it which is why its making the wierd noise it does and im sure its stuck its probably a single one all the cam lobes feel good, beats me im not used to dealing with these engines yet....

exciting news is i bought another one so ill have that soon too.

They are yours if you want them. Question is, getting them to you....when and where?
I can be available Saturday or Sunday.
I will be honest, I have doubts it's a rocker. If the motor is not turning, none of that stuff will make a noise. Maybe, just maybe a collapsed adjuster popping back up. But I think that is unlikely.

Yeah i ain't sure what would make a pop noise like that though it seems to be that the noise will present itself briefly if the engine is cold but if i let it warm up then the noise will happen as it cools down the engine is getting proper oil lubrication so not entirely sure what it could be otherwise.
