For all those who have supercharges, how has your engines and transmissions held up - especially in the long term? I am specifically asking about those who have not built their engines with forged internals and those who have around 400 - 450rwhp/ 5 - 9lbs of boost.

2005 model. Got it in February of that year. Had the supercharger by mid summer. Never drive it easy. Beat on it like it owes me money. It's currently at 13.5 lbs boost, still running strong.

Non cooled Vortech @ 10 lbs. with my auto 441 whp(mustang dyno)..Had it on for about 10k miles..Just installed Meth injection, that just gave me a few more thousand miles of non intercooled stock internal life:beerchug2:

OBTW, The tune is key to engine life. Get a real tuner who knows what they are doing, and your engine will last for along time..

ended up at 23 whp more than when I last got it tuned in January, same shop, same dyno. More importantly than the hp gain imo, is that when the meth is spraying, Chris didnt have to give it alot of timing, and not one hint of detonation or knocking. And MOST importantly, as I have a non-after cooled kit, is the heat soak issue is so much less than before the meth. I can actually have fun with it on hot days after some sustained boost..And I picked up at least an honest 4 mpg across the board also..:beerchug2:

06 GT, 45K miles and 15K miles with a Saleen. Running 8-10 psi and bit the dust last week. Spun a bearing, so down for the count. Nothing to do with the tune nor the boost. It was either over revved during a 1/4 mile run or could have been an intermitent oil pressure problem.

Installed the HO Whipple @ 14K miles last year and I just hit 26K. most of the time the tune was at 455 RWHP and it's been bumped up to 475RWHP since Dec. Zero issues with engine and tranny except for the fried stock clutch.

How do you launch the car at the track? What tires? Stock diff?

Vortech V2

10lbs @ 435 whp for 2 yrs and 60+ track passes
12.2lbs @ 460 whp for 5 months and 15 passes

Only issue with the 3650 was the remote shifter problem shifting at high RPM that screwed up a shift and bent some interanls. My dealer rebuilt under warrently

2007 GT, Whipple H.O kit, put on at 22,000 miles making 504 Horsepower 474 Torque, on 10 pounds of boost, stock internals, stock transmission, stock clutch and flywheel. Now have 43,000 miles on it and not 1 problem. It does need a new clutch for racing but for everyday getting around and the constant beating it still holds up good.

Just out of curiousity Hawgman, who tuned your car?

For the first 3 years of it's life it was tuned by HPP Motorsports in Lewisville Texas. For the last year it has been running a JDM tune because I swapped to a Level 10 automatic transmission and at the time Jim told me that Level 10 uses something other than line pressure to control their transmissions, and that JDM had worked on them and with them and knows how to tune them. But it is about to go back to a HPP tune because since then JDM seems to have changed their story on the transmission tune being unique, and I have been asking JDM for the last 46 days for an adjustment in the transmission portion of the tune and I keep getting jacked off and I am tired of fucking with them.

Thanks for the replies all. I have been debating on purchasing a blower, but others have been trying to sway me into a '07 or '08 GT500 instead - including my wife and mechanic.

I am just trying to get an idea how others have fared with the expensive items (internals and transmission) once they put on a blower and for what period of time.

If you are debating on a GT500 or pushing the limits on stock internals with a GT, Then a GT500 is a no-brainer. I would have gotten a used GT500 if I was to do it all over again..

Wow..I would expect better customer service from JDM...
