So when's the next one?

Joe,

From the demand that is evidently present, it sounds like you need to start thinking about scheduling another event...I know I'm one of those that backed out (with plenty of notice), but I'll probably participate next time round.

It might be a worthwhile idea, while it's still all fresh in your mind, to make a list of lessons learned so that the next one is an even greater success.

Look back in this thread and it distinctly states $150 for NA and $250 for FI. Its still there Joe. Read through this tread carefully, it historically lists the chain of events. I can also add the numerous PM's I sent you where the return communications was vague at best. Sorry but I wholly disagree with your reply and as a result you force me to publish my PM I sent you. I let it stand on its own merits.

I do apologize for the Cobra comment but no where did I see his name on the White board, there was an empty space and you wrote in a name after 1PM so now I assume it was the Cobra guy.

Thanks though for replying, would have been cordial to get a reply to my PM first though.

I still stand by my thoughts:

So to summarize the event;
  • Unorganized
  • Poorly communicated
  • Confusion as to times, dates and pricing
  • Deception/misconception not sure which order, but I think unintentional.
  • Un-organization probably caused undue strife and stress to Doug from Bama, it was an unrelenting schedule of tuning for Doug.

Phil, you are correct, it does state $150 for Na and $250 for FI, It also states that is what doug was charging for tuning, I do need to charge something for the use of our $50K+ Dyno, don't you think?

As for the Cobra Guy, he was on the list at 8:45AM and pulled his name off if time started to be an issue, Doug told him that it would not be an issue and he put it back on! He was willing to give up his spot for someone else to get a tune, sounds like a hell of a guy to me.

Your statement also shows me that you showed up at 1pm when you've already said it was to start at 9am on a first come first serve basis.

All in all out of the 9 cars on Sat. and the 6 cars on Friday it went smoothly.

Phil, I don't know how many Dyno days you've been to but they are all pretty much the same. The tuner makes the choices on what he wants done and the shop owner (myself in this case) makes the arrangements that he( the tuner) Needs.
As for pricing, If you would do some checking, Even if Doug or Choose to charge $400 for a dyno tune with up to 3 tunes, this is a DEAL in itself.
I have had Jerry W. (one of, if not the best tuner n the country) come to houston for Dyno days with only 20 Slots aval. and 50 people willing to pay his $550.00 asking price ontop of the Dyno charge!

Those of us that Own Dyno's pay a Pretty Price for them ( $40K-to over 100K) for a piece of equipment that sits unless we are using it for tuning. The tuning software we use is sold for more than $5K and requires yearly updates that cost more. This is all useless unless we have taken the time to Learn to tune a car Correctly.

Again, I am sorry you had a bad time. I do know now that you have a medical condition that prevents you from staying out in the heat too long, if you would have said something to us, we might have made an arrangement and asked those in front of you to see if they minded giving up their spot for you so we could get your car done, but you failed to say anything to those that were working the event.

In closing, and this is for everyone, Me Cody and Doug have spoken about it, and have made the choice to do another day soon, but when the weather is a bit cooler. We are doing this for those that Signed up but had something come up and could not make it.

Keep a watch as it will be sometime in DEC. so we can have some cooler temps and better air for tuning.

Well if you would have done like everybody else you would have showed up earlier. I drove up Friday evening and stayed the night in town ( 400 miles) just so I could get a spot early. I showed up at the shop at 8AM knowing it was first come first serve I was there even before Joe. Yes it did take them a little while to get the shelby tuned but no one complained about it.
The guy with the Cobra you are accusing of taking that spot actually erased his name off the board giving up his spot not to start some crying like your doing ,But that's unfair to him .

hey i called to double check on joe and he told me heads up, 9am. not his fault you shoed up after 11am. And when you poay that much money, youre paying for them to dyno the thing and use their professional abilities to perfectly tune your car to the best of its abilities and make sure it doesnt blow in the process. Sounds like a good deal to me. some ppl tend to forget that Joe is only human and can only work on one car at a time. He, cody, and doug made sure every car ran its best whether it took 2 runs or 8. It was first come first serve. And if the FI guys get there before the N/A, then so be it.

I think the event went pretty good everyone knows that it takes time and effort to dyno tune a car yeah doug had the tunes pretty close right off the bat but with him, Cody and Joe being the type people they are they spent the time they felt was needed on each individual car because if they hadnt there would have been a post on here with somebody crying because they spent all that money and didnt think they recieved the one on one dealings they had expected. I was there at 9 am after driving 4.5hrs from Baton Rouge and it was almost 7 before we got the wifes car on the dyno and you wont hear one cross word from me about any of these 3 guys they were all very helpful ,professional, and readily willing to discuss anything you wanted with them and on top of that Joe even took the time to change out the plugs in the car before we tuned it on the 100 shot and didnt charge me a red cent for doing so ,after we got that done we strapped it down and put up some pretty freaking good numbers for an 06 auto gt with a 100 shot and JLT cold air kit and exhaust. After that I loaded up in the ride and drove the 4.5 hrs back to Baton Rouge. I would like to thank Joe Cody and Doug for taking time with me to answer all my questions. Whew!!! this was one long first post but I felt it was warrented and needed. Just my honest opinion of my day at Dyno Joes

All I got to say is NONE OF YOU and I mean NONE OF YOU HAVE EXHAUST LIKE MINE!!!!!!!!

BTW, I'll also be back down there when ever the next event is up and ready to go...damn Houston..LoL. I'ma need to get my LT's and TC configured precisely in my tune!

Joe, You're a stand up guy in my book and from past experiences have already earned my trust and business....IMO, almost everything from my car is from you except my JDM exh....I mean Ghetto Ass exhaust...LMAO! You, Doug, and Cody handled the event to the best of your abilities and it turned out GREAT. Of course there were some bumps with the Cobra's but other than that everything went pretty smooth. Then of course you went out and spent the money on food, fans, etc...went out of your way for everyone there and I sincerely appreciate that! Of course the weather (humidity) did suck balls but it's fucking Texas! It don't matter whats going on the weather will never be perfect in this random ass state.

I sat down and wrote some letters to You, Doug, and Cody but couldn't read them all that well so I think I'ma stick with the emails.

I really do appreciate everything you've done Joe and please send regards to Hooch, and the wife for me...(I want that hood). If you need anything please let me know.

Thanks,

- Justin

The PM I sent Joe in whole except for some personal background info thats not necessary.

=======================================================

  • It appeared that someone (03 Cobra) jumped ahead of those that had signed in early and took the third spot in line. How does that happen, favored customer or friend not sure. That tune was still going on when I left at 2:15PM so I’m not sure how long it took but I think you were approaching an hour on this particular tune (FI)
As the owner of that 03 cobra if you thought I had "jumped" ahead of you why didnt you say anything? Had you it would have been explained to you that as a friend of Joey I did what a friend would do and took my name off the list knowing he had customers waiting and that my car could wait! Cody decided that my car would be quick and easy so even though my name was not put back on the list I went back to being 3rd in line and like everyone on this forum knows shit happens and we found out I had a bad MAF that's why my car took what you call "too long" your impatience shows you have never done a dyno day or you would know that cars are not tuned within 10 minutes this isnt Jiffy Lube!

Thanks Cody!

Sign me up for when Doug's back, Joe. I'll need to get a set of stainless ARH or Kooks LT's (with a catted X) from you prior (do you sell both?), and we will need to schedule the install prior to the dyno-day, so I can get tuned with those one the car.

BTW I mentioned the dyno-day on TMS to some San Antonio folks...hope that was ok.

Pls PM with a quote on the headers & install.

I am setting this one up as well as a few more around the country for Doug.

We will be hitting California as well for about 1 week.
