We've had issues here but I think we have a smarter class of Admins, Mods and Owner so while the site may go down I doubt it would be as bad as that.

I think vBulletin is one of the hardest BBs to hack. Its not open source (which makes it really expensive), and a lot of research goes into making it stable and safe (which makes it really expensive).

I think vBulletin is one of the hardest BBs to hack. Its not open source (which makes it really expensive), and a lot of research goes into making it stable and safe (which makes it really expensive).

The vBulletin package of scripts isn't open source, but it IS built on 100% open source technology.

If you think a couple a hundred bucks is "really expensive" for software... I don't know what to say about that.

TMS runs on vBulletin....

vBulletin is no easier or harder to hack than any other board IMO, there's an entire sub-culture that exploits and exposes vulnerabilities of all boards, open sourced or not.

Bottom line, it's up to the people running a site to know what they are doing. No software exists that will eliminate the utter stupidity of mankind.

TMS has been around a long time, and this is only one of MANY such outages they've had.

Do they know what they're doing? .... in a word....no AND they don't care either.
