What cams?

Well i am going with 4.10's for sure. I like the way they pull up high put they run like a dog down low. I have had to very very reputable people try and tune my car with these cams and they are still not right. Tired of wasting money on dyno runs and tuning. I think i would be better off getting them out of there. I have heard very few peoplewith these cams run great. Most peoplehave problems down low. Mine even lopes when clutch is pushed in for about 3 seconds and then settles at idle. Also sputters a little until around 4000 rpms. I know everyone is going to say find a new tuner but these a very good and one has been in MM&FF a couple of times. Just tired of messing with them and the driveability....

I'm not sure rather to go with BBR or Comp cams. Kind of disgusted with the thumpers.

If you already have the thumpers, we have a good tune pre-written for them. You may want to give that a try before you go out and buy new cams.

Wayne, if you decide to get rid of the thumpr's, I might know someone who'd be interested.

Also, I'm going all in and doing cams too for the new motor. Would love to catch up with you one day and hear about your experiences.

If you can't get the tune right I can't blame you (take this coming from an old school carb guy) but if it's just a lack of low end, up the gears. 3.73s are weak-sauce and for those that want to up the gear but are chicken to run something decent. Most run an above average tire height. 4.30s min. and just eat it and get the cross pin and go 4.56 even a better idea. So long as you're not planning FI down the line, you wont' regret. Best bang for the buck money you'll spend.

You changed cams and springs in a 3 valve, in 4 hours?

You are the man!!

Sure in mine and your dreams......just the cams man, just the cams.

Changing the springs would just be tedious and frustrating, but not a non-doable job

comp spr stage II...great low end and high end. I was pushing 345rwhp 341rwtq with those cams and bolt ons...stock heads, stock driveshaft, stock waterpump, stock throttle body, etc

and as you can see, they respond quite well to a blower if you ever decide to go that route later on

Ok...I'll say something about them....they suck. Nice sound if that's all you want. More power can be made with a different grind though.

And the correct spelling happens to be "speechless".

Actually the correct spelling is... D-I-C-K aka Internet tuff guy. I never said anything about getting them either, when someone asks about cams it should be presented as an option since about 50% of s197 owners have them.

And the other 50% of use knew better than to buy a piece of shit cam.

Just sayin!

The Hot Rod cams are not any better then what he has already , that may be why they were not mentioned. If you have a grocery go getter or just a bolt on car that doesnt get raced then the hot rods do fine but they will not be an upgrade over what he has. I like the comp mutha thumprs , good power gains and a serious idle...
