I need some help. My wife wants more power for her 2010 GT. I know the basic options: 1) S/C or turbos, 2) cams/heads/CAIs/other or 3) wait for the 2011's. I got 1 and 3 figured out, but what about #2? Is there anything I can do for a couple grand and get a 100 HP in return? No nitrous. Got a DS Tuner. Also, I keep hearing the exhaust on the GT is so good it's not worth adding headers or a catback, any truth to this? Thanks. As I'm new and probably asking something "unoriginal" I will add the appropriate smiley pics.

Not possible with option 2 to get another 100 HP. 40-50 HP possibly.

I just wanted to puke when I heard the return of the 400+ HP 5.0 Ford is bringing out in 2011. Here I am busting my balls to get 300 RWHP...

Search feature would be a great start! You could use you're fingers to press the keys on you're keyboard a bit more than usual to find the answer to questions you are looking for. They are out there! Good luck!

To help you out a bit more, there is a great deal on a PH Turbo in the for sale section!

you left out #4)manifolds. especially with force induction you can highly benefit from them. jpc or wait for the frpp, there is c&l but they are really heavy. its all a matter of money though.

I would stick with option #2 if you don't want to blow the pocket book and still have a very quick car N/A. You can add some great power with just bolt on's and gears!

It's an auto, power goal is around 350-400rwhp (ballpark), it is a daily driver and spending limit is the cost of a supercharger if necessary. I know the S/C is the way to go most likely (not a big fan of turbos unless putting in two). Thing is, I know my Challenger inside and out and what mods are best, the Mustang is a different animal with lots of performance parts available at cheaper prices, so I'm wondering if you Mustang guys can help me out if there is an alternative "standard" that most people do using cams, headers, etc., a "package" if you will. If there is such a thing, I was hoping someone would simply clue me in instead of having to search the forums for the next month and still have to get opinions.

Bottom line: I can spend $6000-7000 if I have to but if there is a cheaper yet reasonable alternative, I'd like to explore it. Additionally, I would like to avoid warranty issues as well so I've given thought to going back to Ford and using their performance parts. I've also noticed aluminum drive shafts seem to be popular, is that a weight thing or necessary for FI mods?

Thanks for the help Shades (and also to those of you who took the time to respond). Most appreciated.

For $6-7K you can have pretty much any s/c thats out there. For N/A you can do heads, cams, lt's, gears, suspension, udp's, cmdp's if you don't want an intake manifold and have a beastly N/A car

The one-piece aluminum driveshaft is an important part to have if you are over a certain power level because the stock driveshaft isn't that stable if your drag-racing, not to mention the aftermarket one is lighter.

As for your statement about one turbo, you will definitely take that statement back for this mustang, if you look at kits such as the Hellion or Powerhouse kit. Unless you are going into a HIGH HP range (way past your goals) a single turbo will do what you want and more. I personally would say the best power for money option with these cars would be FI. SOme N/A guys will disagree, but if the track isn't that important to you, and you just want a decently fast (faster) mustang that can be a reliable DD, a supercharger or a turbo should be more than enough for you.

Track racing would be just for fun, FYI. Also, being in AZ, summer temps get up there. I've been told to steer away from S/C's that are not intercooled. I will rethink the turbos - thanks, great info!

Alot of guys here are running around Texas and other hot places with superchargers, i live in NY so I don't have as much worry as you in that department but I'm sure you'll be ok with most "known" setups. Maybe some of the other guys living in extremely hot places can pitch in.

Definitely rething the Turbos, and make sure you get a good set-up from a reputable person (preferably reputable tuners as well).

You can get the 400hp Whipple kit through Ford Racing and still keep a warranty or get the 500hp kit but it comes with no warranty. Thats the kits i was looking at.
