If you are concerned about your pipes hitting the ground or if your pipes are hitting the ground, then follow this. We installed the Hellion kit on my car about 2 weeks ago. First ride out my car was making pipe to road contact all the time and it was only time before some damaged happened. So we pulled it on the lift and we were looking for everyway possible to cut and reweld pipes and we decided to hold off and get taller front tires instead.
So after a few days at home, I was talking to a buddy of mine and we just took it for a ride and I was barely able to get on it or even drive it. We started to talk in my drive way. Then my neighbor came over and he mentioned about being a way to raise the engine at all? Then it clicked to me and I totally forgot about having JDMs lowering mounts on there from the Saleen Supercharger. What that basically means is that I am a 1/2" lower than all the other cars and everyone complains about the pipes hitting the ground so mine was even worst.
Ok to fix the issue I started looking for motor mounts that would raise the car a little and found nothing. So then I went on Ebay and found circle track 1" motor mount adapters and bought them for around 15 plus shipping. The 1/2" ones are about 12.00 plus shipping. They looked nice. We installed them and raised the engine 1" above the old height, which comes out to be 1/2" over stock height. And no more rubbing at all. When it stops raining out ill take pics. Here is a link of where I got the mount adapters. If stock height then use 1/2".

man this is just what i need i have the lower motor mounts also and my car isnt lowered at all, but it still rubs if i hit a dip in the road.
It only took about an hour to do. Its a lot easier to do from under the car. You would have to go with the 1" spacers.

ok just ordered one. thanks
It looks a lot harder to install than it is. Then motor mounts look like a pain in the ass with the BBk shorty headers but from under the car its not that bad. Make sure you use 8.8 bolts or 10.9. You dont want to cheap out on those bolts. You will have to replace them with ones that will be 1" longer. You can get them at most good hardware stores. I forget the size that JDM uses but I believe they are 10mm. On my motor mounts they use a metric bolt. If using a standard use a grade 8. You might need to mess with a couple of hose clamps, we just moved the hose clamps around that way you can get the best clearance for shutting the hood. By moving the hose clamps around, I mean twisting them that way the bolt part is not on top so it wont hit the hood. We screwed the hood dampeners in a little and the hood opens and closes better now than before.

does raising the engine effect any pinion angles or the angle of the exhaust manifolds?
or is it just the same as using lowering mounts?

what is the max you can raise the engine? 1/2" or 1"

I wouldnt go any further past 1/2 over stock height. It will effect the pinion angle a little. Just get that adjusted when done.

Mine are polyurethane 1/2 in lower. That is why I used 1" spacers. If you are stock height get the 1/2" spacer. It might not seem alot, but anything will help.

appreciate the input. thanks for the info! :thumb:

i would suppose 1" is too drastic over stock height?

You would probably run into many clearance issues going with 1in. It might work, you could get 2 1/2" spacer on each side and give it a try and see before you bolt it down.

i heard the prothane bullet mounts put you about .25" higher. that's what i ordered because i had the same mounts, but shaved to drop the engine. then when i went with the long tubes, i had major clearance issues with the steering shaft. so then i drove around for a little bit with a shit load of washers raising the motor mounts, but didn't feel to safe about that after awhile (i'm just a punk kid, i'm allowed to make mistakes), so then i put the stock hydro mounts back in and that was fine for height, but allowed the engine to lean to the side, so no bueno. ordered new mounts and should be good.

The prothane mounts that I got came from JDM and they use them with there Saleen supercharger kit to clear the hood. They are 1/2" lower on the mounts.
