So, i'm sure as some of you have seen i recently acquired a C6 Z06, stock except for NT05s, brakes, intake & exhaust.

I finally started driving my mustang again (its been about a month) and i cant stand the way it handles honestly.

I feel like the car feels so floaty and sluggish compared to the Z06, i know i know... im comparing it to a Z06 but still.

heres my suspension / chassis setup;

alignment;

-2.5* camber
1/8th toe out

Ground control coilovers (track/street springs)
BMR K-member
CHE K-member brace w/ torque limiters
BMR A-arms
FRPP F&R Swaybars
Powergrid adjustable front endlinks
Steeda rear endlinks
Steeda competition UCA / LCA
Steeda relocation brackets
Fays2 watts link
Stoptech ST40 w/ 2pc rotors... etc etc etc

285/35 NT05s all around

Not to mention tons of weight reduction

Thats all i think, i used to think this car handled like a dream but now i think otherwise.

Any advice on what to do? The car just feels kinda.... floaty.

Maybe i'm just used to the extremely lower center of gravity that the Z06 has?

Shocks tired?

Is it less floaty when its cold? That would be a good sign its time for new shockage...

If you compare the cars...then the only way you can get z06 like/beating handling from your stang is to spend big $$$ and get a proper suspension/wheel package

The stang is at such a handicap compared to a moded z06...that your gonna have to do major surgery.

Your stang in the world of hardcore road racing is fairly tame...minor adjustments aren't gonna give you want your looking for, sorry.

but its apples and oranges to compare. you mite as well drive a GT3rs and say that it handles better than your car.

there is always a faster car or better driver and you just have to get use to it.

i would say screw both of the cars and get a airal atom and call it a day its about the best car you can get for the money.

That modded C6Z is going to be WELL north of 500RWHP, so yeah, AIX would be a better place to look...

A track prepped Z06's with 550 rwhp ran 1:10 lap times at NJMP. An 250 rwhp AI foxbody on the same track was running 1:16 with good driver.

Welcome to the Dark Side! It's an apples and oranges comparison in many ways. Enjoy the new ride and good luck.

time to make your z06 your track toy and mustang into a DD ahaha.

IDK you would start to need SLA, Rear coils w/ coil tower brace, fatter sways, and custom part I would guess.

Its hard to beat a car that has fatter tires, wishbone suspension, lighter weight, and more power.

Thats actually why i got it in the first place, for the track. Honestly though i don't know if i would want the mustang as a daily, the way i built it was for road racing.

Yeah, the two cars are so much different its crazy, i love how the Z06 is INCREDIBLY smooth through all the turns and very very very easy to control, confidence inspiring. The mustang seems to "bounce" when going over slightly uneven pavement at decent speed through turns. Do you think this could be because my car may be a bit too low? its lowered about -1.7" i'd say. Tried to do all i could to help fix the geometry though.

Impressive... motivation to make my stang keep up with the Z.

You have some good suspension work done to your stang, I'm sure it handles great, but it's hard to compare it to a C6 ZO6, night and day there.

Most guys on here do minor suspension mods...even most of the hardcore guys build cars, but limit them to AI/SPEC level times (still real quick tho)

The z06 your comparing the Mustang to is a open class typa car..something that would be placed in NASA TTU for example.

Cut to the chase and call guys like Griggs/Cortex/Agent 47 if you want to get there.

I'm looking to trade my A5 in on a Z06 as well. It will be my driver and backup when the Mustang's down. I already missed two events this year chasing different issues.

I am anxious to compare a Z06 to my Grigg's GR40 ST setup.I did drive a Z51 for three days at Bondurant and thought it wasn't as good as the Mustang but a Z06 is different.

Lol... This thread makes me sad. With all of that suspension work, I would've expected your 'Stang to hold its ground with the Vette.

I know Griggs makes a kit that will make a Mustang out handle a Vette. But that's some serious $$,$$$.

So, what I've learned from this thread is I need to not dump any more money into my Mustang and just save up for a Corvette hahah!
