went tonight with the roll bar in and even with the extra 100+lbs it still went 10.991 @ 122.88 with a 1.48 60' time
now i've got to get that extra weight back out and then some. heck now it's nearly 3800# on line with my fat ass in it.
looks like MattD is coming on strong so i got to get some serious weight dropped off this winter.

none from tonight but next time i'll have someone go with me just to video and get pictures. figured nobody would believe it actually had the front tires off the ground but i actually felt it. had to ask my buddy to confirm it and he did. haven't felt that in years since this car normally doesn't do much on launch but i discovered something that dropped me from the previous pass of 11.06 to 10.99
i use my ebrake as a poor mans trans brake. it allows me to get the rpms up anothe 700-800 or so above what i normally do just footbraking but on that pass i nailed it a split second before i let off the ebrake and that was huge. damn if only i could launch at 4000 or more this thing would really scream even as a heavy ass pig.

Ron, hope to see you there next weekend at MIR for the S197 bracket shootout. I still don't have an 11sec NA car but a VERY consistent 12.2 car in this warm weather!

Ron how much did the cage weigh aprox?
i didn't weigh everything separately...don't know:dunce: why... but i'll weigh the car at the same track i did last year so it's a consistant reading.
It's mild steel so i'm guessing with the seat belts\brackets\floor plates and all it added about 100 lbs. to the car. the total shipping weight for the roll bar kit was 150lbs but i didn't use the small stabilizer bars off the main hoop and i made everything as short as possible to reduce the weight and still keep it legal.
maybe it would be easier to just find another car thats been wrecked or something and start from scratch. there's a nice little 4cyl auto fox body notch for sale down the street (40k original miles $1500 obo) but that would exclude me from all the races for s197's....but imagine 2600lbs with a C4\transbrake....easy high 9's but i'd rather stick with the s197 body

is that bolt in...if so thats an incredible deal and definitely lighter....CM being .083 is almost half the thickness so it's nearly half the weight of a comparable mild steel bar.
if i can't go race on saturday then i'll probably pull the car in the shop and start looking for stuff to remove...anyone know how much the wipers and stuff weigh...

wow i didn't realize they had weighed every freakin thing on the car but i guess by now enough cars have been disassembled to know what is worth doing and what isn't
to me it's much easier and more efficient to just cut the frame out and build a new chassis that way i get to lose the weight and still keep all the good stuff that makes it a street car. i think i can still keep the stock suspension points, firewall and tunnel then build frame rails all the way up to the front. full cage and hopefully under 3000# with me in it and still keep the oem feel of the car by not gutting the doors or removing the dash, radio wipers, rear seats,ac.....etc.
just redo what ford did wrong (well heavy anyway) and keep whats good.
if i could just make it weigh what a fox body weighed i'm looking at very low 10's no problem and quite possibly sqeaking it in the 9's
maybe this winter i'll start looking harder at this option.
