Ive been in Vegas for the last 4 days so I decided to rent a mustange convert and take a roll out to the dam. Really nice to cruise in and looks sharp as hell but I was expecting a lot more out of the engine.
I know it was a rental and already had 20k on it but I thought it would still have some fight left.
Nice ride but pretty unimpressed. Now Im going to have to get in an '11 GT and see what its got.
I wouldnt ever consider trading my '06 GT in for this ride. But the convert is a real nice aspect. Too bad I live in the midwest.

I agree. Its a cool thing to see but a not as immense as I was expecting.
I was there the day they opened the new Pat Tillman bridge. That was pretty cool. I never knew that place was so busy. The traffic was crazy. It was 115 degrees and we were in traffic for 4 or 5 miles with the top down. Crazy hot.

Wife an I are planning a short trip to Vegas in February to escape the NY winter blahs. Hoover dam is on the list. Never been West of Joliet so it'll be fun.

The rest of my story. I do dealer exchange for a local Ford dealer. I drive about three times a week for them and so I drive everything Ford makes over time. I drove the 2011 six for over four hours straight. I got a full experience over many situations; traffic, highway, and interstate. The ride is NOT up to the hype. MPG on sticker was 29 so 31 is an automatic, ugg. I think the 05-09 six had better acceleration, imagine that.

Well you have to keep a couple things in mind. First, the motor is still tight. Give it a few thousand miles to loosen up and I bet it runs a whole lot better. Second, you generally can't have your cake and eat it too. Chevrolet did the same thing on the Silverado. My 07 had 315 hp compared to 295 in my 05. Under about 3k my 05 would flat walk all over my 07. Numbers sell cars. I'd take low end grunt anyday over high revs, unless we're talking FI; but the sad fact is, the general public loves to hear the big hp numbers.

You have to also remember that the stock v6 comes with 2.73 gears. I wonder how it would be with 3.31s. I think it would be perfect with 3.73s.
