when i search this part number = F7UZ-8509-AA

there is a pulley it lists for 4.6, and 5.4 and all these different applications, which one do i need?

You need the part# I posted - F7UZ-8509-AA

If you haven't already done so, I also recommend replacing the Saleen supplied 76mm smooth guided idler pulley next to the power steering pump with an OEM 90mm metal smooth non-guided idler pulley (OEM Part# 1L2Z-8678-AB or Gates/NAPA part# 38001) at that location. The plastic pulley will fail leaving you stranded. The larger OEM metal pulley, besides being more "robust", will give you more belt wrap on the crankshaft pulley reducing belt slip. If you go this route you will need a slightly longer belt. Once you have decided exactly which pulley combination you will run, let me know and I can most likely supply you with a belt part number because I've tried them all.

PS: not disagreeing with what others have posted about using a 8 or even 10 rib setup but I am running a 6 rib setup at 15 psi and have little if any belt slip. However, you must have the right pulley combination, belt tensioner and proper belt tension.

ok cause when i checked they all had the same part number online at this ford dealership.

how is this, i have a 108 belt right now, and it has the tensioner at about 85%, when i put a breaker bar on the tensioner to loosen the belt its almost all the way already.

i am going to replace the 76mm saleen guided pulley with the metal factory 90mm non guided idler pulley, which i have from when i removed it with my supercharger install.

i am also going to install the v10 water pump which is the part number you gave me.

what size belt would i need for 3.4 pulley with that combo? and also for the future with my engine build what size for 3.0?

also is a little belt dust on inside of the hood normal? its right where the hood is sitting over the passenger side of the intake.

Honestly just talk to Caleb, Melvin, and Taylor. They are willing to answer your questions on anything. Like Ras has stated before Melvin knows how to build and assemble and engine.

  • Don't know about the RWHP - just finished the build. Haven't had the vehicle to the dyno yet as I'm now upgrading the rear axle.
  • If I remember correctly the rev limiter is set to 6,800 RPM
  • I'm running a Thump_rrr tensioner with a 76mm stamped steel idler pulley
  • Yes the larger water pump pulley means the water pump will turn slower. To be more specific: Stock “GT” W/P pulley (F6TZ-8509-AA) is 5.082” diameter – 15.957” circumference. W/P speed is reduced 7.9% with a 5.5” V10 W/P (F7UZ-8509-AA) pulley. No there will not be any ill effects.

Sorry for the highjack, but i have similar questions. I have a saleen blower on my car running a 3.6" pulley with the smooth stock (90mm) idler pulley. I used the stock belt that came with the 3.6 and it fit, although it seems a little tight. What pulley size would you recommend for the 3.6, and also for a 3.4 as i will be upgrading the pulley soon?

Also, What are the benefits of running that water pump pulley?

what size belt would i need for 3.4 pulley with that combo?

For a 3.4" Saleen S/C 6 rib pulley here is what I recommend:
  • Gates K061075 Micro-V (13/16” x 108 1/8” – 6 rib) or NAPA 25-061075 Belt
    [*]90mm idler pulley next to the P/S pump - OEM Part# 1L2Z-8678-AB/Eng.# 1L2E-19A216-AC or Gates/NAPA part# 38001
    [*]Thump_rrr tensioner w/76mm pulley
    [*]stock diameter damper pulley
or
  • Gates K061080 Micro-V (13/16” x 108 ¾” – 6 rib) or NAPA 25-061080 Belt
  • 90mm idler pulley next to the P/S pump - OEM Part# 1L2Z-8678-AB/Eng.# 1L2E-19A216-AC or Gates/NAPA part# 38001
  • Thump_rrr tensioner w/76mm pulley
  • stock diameter damper pulley
    [*]V10 (5.5") Waterpump pulley - F7UZ-8509-AA
and also for the future with my engine build what size for 3.0?

For a 3.0" Saleen S/C 6 rib pulley here is what I recommend:
  • Gates K061075 Micro-V (13/16” x 108 1/8” – 6 rib) or NAPA 25-061075 Belt
    [*]90mm idler pulley next to the P/S pump - OEM Part# 1L2Z-8678-AB/Eng.# 1L2E-19A216-AC or Gates/NAPA part# 38001

i believe my belt right now is 108 1/8, and i have the guided pulley from saleen with stock water pump pulley and stock tensioner, if i add the 90mm pulley non guided and the v10 water pump pulley i will have to go to the 108 3/4?

The K061075 belt is too short to accommodate both the larger V10 waterpump pulley and 90mm idler pulley in place of the stock water pump pulley and 76mm idler pulley. If you're going to change both pulleys, you will need to install the longer belt.

However, if it were my vehicle, I would not install the V10 waterpump pulley with the 3.4" S/C pulley as you really don't need it yet. The 3.4" S/C pulley still has sufficient belt wrap to prevent slipping using the stock waterpump pulley. The V10 waterpump pulley will allow you to retain the longer belt (K061080) that is used with the 3.6" pulley without having to change to a shorter belt as I recommended to bolivianpimp in my previous post. Why not just install the 90mm idler pulley in place of the 76mm idler pulley and call it a day. You can then install the V10 waterpump pulley when you upgrade your S/C pulley to a 3.0" pulley. Much cheaper and easier than installing a new belt.

By the way the V10 waterpump pulley sells for about $20 - $25 at your local Ford dealer depending on what discount they give you.

where do i buy this tensioner arm?

http://www.thumpracing.com/

Thump_rrr offers 2 belt tensioners:
  • PM-1006-76 Billet Aluminum Belt Tensioner with 76mm Pulley for 2005/11 Mustang GT up to 500 HP - Intro Price $195.00
or
PS: This is just my personal opinion. Peter (Thump_rrr Racing) spent countless hours designing, engineering and manufacturing the first reliable tensioner for our S197s when no one else in the market offered such a product. His tensioners and pulleys will always be my first recommendation. As you look at his website it will quickly become clear that if Thump_rrr Racing doesn't offer the tensioner and pulley combination your looking for you probably don't need it. However there are other manufacturers that make upgraded tensioners: Steeda, Roush, UPR, etc. Let your HP level and wallet be your guide.

whats funny? lol
I asked you how your planning is going when I can never get my build even started. I've started to order parts I don't know how many times, and then when I go to order them something happens and my money has to go away from my build. :deadhorse:

So what did you decide to do with yours?
